Fen
Fen appears a regular wolf pack at first glance, and for the most part, that rings true. They work together, they have routines and rituals, and prosper. Every now and again, they take in a stray, and aren't strangers to charity towards other packs. Sometimes, at night, however, ghosts come out of hiding... and do little more than chat with their descendants, the still-alive wolves of the pack.
Wolves of Fen are most at home in coniferous forests blanketing mountain flanks and foothills. Their coats are camouflage and protection, dappled-brown and shaggy-thick, though being well-groomed is a point of pride for them. They know their territory well enough to drive their prey into dead-end gorges, and only rarely do they lose their prey's tracks amid pine-scent.
Roles:
- Lead: the wolf going out, exploring, forming new ties between the pack and the outside world. Their word is law.
- Second-in-command: Keeper of internal affairs of the pack.
- Huntmaster: Coordinates all hunting activities, sends out teams.
- Quartermaster: Ensures the den is kept in proper shape.
- Hoardkeeper: Keeps an eye on the supplies the pack has and, if necessary, processes items that come in. The unenviable task of harvesting bones and trophies from prey carcasses is the lot of the Hoardkeeper and their assistants.
- Ambassadors: More targeted establishing of relations with other packs and parties.
- Trader: Pack mule and haggler both, these wolves travel to other packs with Fen's extra supplies to turn them into less perishable bargaining chips.
Caves:
- Fen'vhas: Leadership
- Velruri: Hunters
- Grisian: Scouts
- Augreph: Retirees/mentors
- Dromor: Pups & pupsitters
- Xeguin: Dispersals
- Yilvar: Fresh NBWs that I'm still waiting for the chaser of
- Ghiras: T3 R&C Breeding project
- Vi'rish: Raise & Chase
Wolves in Xeguin are dispersals: they are looking to leave this pack. They will be sold.
In Ghiras, I keep pairs of T3's of the same base (sometimes with long lines, or inbred, or both) for R&C breeding purposes. They're a different project than my main pack and will not be mentioned in lore, but will be given a name if they don't already have one when I get them. I am working on getting rid of them and integrating my R&C efforts into my main pack.
Yilvar holds chased NBWs I've reported as found. I keep them there for a few days or until I hear from the chaser, after that they move to Xeguin if I don't want them or elsewhere if I do. Interested in one? Always DM, I'm not guaranteed to see forum replies.
Fen glossary:
- Fenblood: Bloodline I am keeping. Passed from parent to exactly one pup as soon as the pup's future in the pack is certain.
- Vi'fen: Looking to leave this pack.
- Packheart: Individuals who put the pack higher than their own bloodline. Will not get offspring. Any offspring they do get will go to R&C.
- Rhives: Looking to pairbond.
