Following the Stars

Traditions

Every full moon on a cold night, the pack looks to the stars for the night, hoping to catch a glimpse of a lost loved one, making their trail in the night sky. We call out to them if we see a loved one's trail, hoping they hear our mourning cries.
Our next tradition is a family day. Whether they're adopted or not, a family comes together for a day. Whether they play games, talk, or just be in each other's company, it is simply a day for the family.
A final tradition we have is what we call The Great Peace. This is a day of no fighting, no hunting, and no aggression. This is a day to relax and mill about the camp. If you're lucky, an ancestor will come to you and talk to you. Or, they may even manifest in front of you, just for a moment, just so that they know they're still looking out for you.

Lore

Blue heart, our old lead, had always followed the stars, watching them, following them, looking for prophecies. One night, as she was staring at the stars, she saw a bright flash of color. And suddenly there was a trail of flowing, dancing lights. She followed them; since she was a traveler, no border patrols paid her any mind. Then the light suddenly spiraled downwards into the forest. She walked into the forest, expecting to have some sort of trick played on her. Then she realized a she-wolf was standing a few feet in front of her. It looked at her, tilted its head slightly, then turned and walked away. Blue was mesmerized, so she followed the strange, made-of-flowing-lights creature, trying to ask questions, but getting no response. She followed the wolf into somewhat of a clearing in the forest, where the trees leaned over and intertwined, forming a roof. Then the she-wolf spoke. "This is where you shall start your pack, Blueheart. There is a clearing not far from here, but the trees lean away, forming a skylight. I want you and your packmates to gather there every full moon to watch for signs from the stars, which I know is something you have always done. Now, I want you to pass that tradition on. Show your pack that the stars have signs." With that, the she-wolf was gone. Blue followed what little amount of light was left and found the clearing the figure had talked about. The moon was in the center, and it was full. Blue began to howl and then watched a brilliant meteor shower fly across the sky. After the shower had ended, she sat in the clearing a moment longer and went to her new camp to rest. In the morning, she went out and began to find packmates. The next full moon, she took them to the clearing, including her daughter and son, and showed them how to interpret signs. She did this full moon after full moon, until one day, Blue heart decided to go alone. There, she got a sign that showed that her camp would be invaded by humans, and she needed to leave as soon as possible. So, she did. They moved to the grasslands, and now they have an even easier time interpreting the signs of the stars.
