Painted Sky
It's another usual day. Your stomach is growling, your packmates are hungry.
You let your nose guide you and your pack mates across familiar lands, lost in your thoughts even after you've picked up a trail. It was only until a pack mate questioned your location that you begin to look around you. You are no longer in your familiar territory, but in a bright, vibrant forest you've never been in before.
Leaves scattered the ground in all shades of warmth, reds, oranges, yellows and speckled browns. Blue lights danced across the ground, like small fireflies but you swear you hear the faintest giggles coming from them. The sky was as if it were painted in various shades of pink, purple and blue. Softly changing gradients as white clouds spun in spirals like a painting. Something kept moving around the corner of your eyes, but every time you turn to look, the object disappears. Surely this forest would have stood out to you at a distance, but you can't recall ever seeing it, and it only now occurs to you. that..
this place is no ordinary forest.
You hear the crunching of leaves and look up. A fog quickly settles in and encircles a figure up ahead, but its too dense for you to make out details.
"Welcome to the jaws of the world, the feeding grounds of our great earth known as Scioterra. Beware its beauty, stranger, it's how the land beckons you into her jaws."
The creature comes closer and the mist parts to reveal a light colored she-wolf. You stiffen, unsure whether she is friend or foe.
"I suggest you stand down, stranger. You can come, join or rest at my pack but I advise that you don't stray on your own. This beautiful forest has very little friends and many ways to die." The she-wolf turns her back on you, her tail swaying softly in the movement.
"The decision is ultimately up to you, but above all else in this cursed forest...
stay away from the glowing blue waters."
With those final words, the mist reappears once more, swirls around the she-wolf and in an instant, she is gone. Leaving you and your pack mates, trapped in this beautiful, cursed maze known as
Painted Sky.
