Blackcreek Pack

Thick, lush grass carpeted the gentle rolling hills of the valley. You had come over the mountain ridge at the south of the territory border and now most of the land lay before you. A series of mountains were in the distance to the left, a river cascaded down the grey rock and into a large lake. Near the coastline on the right, a large coniferous forest offered shelter from the harsh sea breeze. 

As you moved down the worn mountain track into the valley, you could hear rustling as critters scampered through the bushes away form your predatory scent. You ignored them and kept moving. You weren't interested in the critters. Not with the large herds of pronghorn deer and wild horses grazing the plains. You weren't here to hunt though, you were visiting the wolf pack that resided in this little haven.

As you reached the bottom of the mountains you saw two wolves approach. Both were weird, unnatural colours. One had silver and blue tones to their fur and what looked to be feathers attached to his ears. Even his nose and claws were strange; a weird shiny blue. The other wolf was red and pink tones with brown legs. He had scars on his face and legs like he had been in a few fights. You noticed the necklace of claws hanging around his neck like they were trophies.

"I'm Marcellus and this is Artaxerxes." The blue wolf spoke, nodding his head slightly towards the other male. "Welcome to the Blackcreek territory. We'll take you to our Alpha now. Please follow us."

You nodded and padded along between them over a few hills until you stopped at the brow of one. You could see that dens had actually been dug into the base of the hills. There were a lot of puppies and adolescents milling around the area, playing with each other. There are several adults around the area too, keeping an eye on the pack's youngsters. Most of them turned to watch as you approached with the two males before shifting their watch back to the puppies. There were far too many puppies for them to all be born to the pack.

A muscular female appeared from one of the den entrances, her olive green eyes striking against her black fur. Her paws and underbelly were shades of grey and white. You noticed that she wore the same claw necklace as the male beside you.

"My name is Aramis. Daughter of our packs' founder and first Alpha, Athenadora. How may I help you?"

*** Pack History ***

The monochrome furred wolf had stumbled across a nice little slice of heaven when she set out to explore the northernmost part of the island. She had passed by several pack territories, but she just kept moving through. She had been trekking over this particular mountain range for two days now, and had finally made it over the ridge. More mountains were in the distance on the west and the eastern coast was lined with beaches and forests, but the real gem was the lush grasslands that were nestled between the two mountain ranges. A river gushed down the mountain into a lake. The wolf could see the herd of animals grazing the grass, completely unaware of her predatory gaze.

She looked at the grey male beside her. His vibrant blue eyes locked onto hers and he offered her a lupine grin.

“I think we found our new home Athena.”

“Yes. Yes we have.” She agreed, moving further down the mountains.

The pair of wolves slowly but surely made a home for themselves in their new haven. Athenadora dutifully explored the area, learning the lay of the land and where all the good food sources were. Darzi spent the time digging out dens in the base of the hills in preparation for the pack they were going to build together.

Maxwell had been living in the grasslands by himself since he was an adolescent. He had run away from his own pack and had spent the following months growing up learning about different herbs from a bear in the woods. When Athenadora and Darzi ended up in the grasslands, he eagerly agreed to join them in their quest to build a new pack. He became the pack’s herbalist, utilising all of his knowledge to create salves and cures for the various injuries the others came back with.

Athenadora had already put out feelers and had come up with two new members for the young pack. Karma and Braeden used to be members of a nearby pack, but defected in search of a different way of life when they ran into Athena as she was exploring her new territory lines. She welcomed the two wolves eagerly.

Karma enjoyed the quiet of scouting and would sometimes disappear for days on end before returning with various useful items for the rest of the small pack. Braeden on the other hand really enjoyed the company of the other wolves and would frequently spend her time talking with wolves from other packs.
