Comet Peak
Eyes are Windows
High in the mountains under the light of endless falling stars, a pack struggles to survive the harshness of the place they call home.

COMET PEAK PACK
PACK LORE
Beliefs
Dieties
- The Great Moon: The original mother of the pack, the Moon provides all for the pack and brings with her appearance each night the darkness in which the Seer and their apprentices can commune with the Stars. When she is full, the pack celebrates and no questions may be posed to the Stars. When she disappears from the sky, the pack uses these shorts days without her light to ask the most difficult questions of the stars, as their light and thus their messages, shine the brightest during this time.
- Stars: The twinkling lights in the sky that appear only in the great darkness. They weave stories understood only by the Seer and the lucky few who have been blessed by being born under a Falling Star. When a Star falls, it is seen as a great omen of something to come but whether this is a positive or negative omen is often up for debate and decoding by the Seer.
Laws
- When a Lead dies, her successor must be one her daughters. If no daughters have survived or were born, a son is placed in the Lead role until thus time he has a daughter come of age. If no children at all survive, the Seer is to appoint a new Lead who's line will take over the duty of leading the pack
- Herbalists must either be male wolf or a female wolf who swears to have no children, as the pack can not afford to be without a Herbalist while the female wolf is nesting. As a result, female Herbalists are rare.
- Temperament within the hunting parties is of extreme importance and as a result only wolves with friendly or romantic personalities may become Hunters.
- If there is no free position within the pack for a newly adult wolf to take, they must become a pupsitter until such time a position opens up for them to take.
Previous Leads
Ranks
- Lead: The leader of the pack, she is the one who makes all final decisions regarding scout reports, hunting parties, etc.
- Beta: The leads second in command, often her mate but this is not always the case. If the Lead is injured, nested, or otherwise busy, it is the duty of the Beta to lead the pack until the Lead is once again capable of fulfilling her duty
- Herbalist: Gifted with a deep understanding of healing herbs and roots, the Herbalist is the one who keeps the entire pack fighting fit and ensures the health of all those under their care.
- Scouts: Somewhat outcasts within the pack, the scouts provide a great service to the pack by exploring the greater world and bringing news of the outside world back to this remote pack. Due to their wanderlust and adventurous nature, the rest of the pack often find them strange for wishing to spend to much time away from the pack
- Seer: Second only to the Beta in terms of rank, the Seer is the Leads spiritual guild and is often sought out to help the lead make decisions that impact the entire pack. Using the moon and stars as their guild, the Seer is tasked with best advising the Lead and/or Beta on the best course of action for the pack.
- Pupsitter: While not the most glamourous job, wolves without any other job are often set to the task of watching the young pups of the pack. They are in charge of ensuring that no pups wander out into the wastes surrounding the packs camp and that all pups are given equal care.
- Pups: The next generation of the pack who are protected by all those within the boundaries of the camp.
Landmarks
- Leads Den: Located near the mouth of the valley, the leads den is exactly what it sounds like. This cave is reserved for the Lead and her mate, with a small side cavern being the den of the Beta (if the Beta is the Leads mate, this cave is left unused)
- Medicine Grotto: A smaller cave at the edge of the water that was discovered in the early days of the packs occupation of the area. Many herbs seem to be capable of growing in this cave and thus is was claimed by the Herbalist.
- Moonshine Cave: A cave set into the walls of Comet Mountain, it is home to the Seer and their apprentice(s). A cave in caused a large opening to form in the roof of the cave allowing moonlight to leak in from above and provides the perfect viewing space for comet reading.
- Hunter Tunnels: A mostly unexplored network of tunnels that were claimed by the Hunters who were both looking for enough space and adventure. While not on hunts, the younger members of the hunting teams can often be found exploring the lesser known offshoots of the tunnels
- Comets Hollow: Set just outside the valley the pack calls home, this large crater is home to the scouts and their apprentices. Rarely do the scouts actually enter the camp, often sticking to their own area unless there are reports to be made or meetings to be held.
- Ascended Cliffs: Set high in the mountain side, this defendable position is home to nesting females and their pups. Due to it being above the Apprentice dens and there being many pups around, it is often the loudest area of camp
- The Waning Moon Dens: Just below the ascended cliffs is a series of small dens carved into the rock face that house the juvenile wolves who are still learning the ways of the pack. Mentors and pupsitters tend to also sleep in these dens, both to be close to their students and duties respectively.
