The Gruff Guardians many years ago before you and I were born was a great pack with the strongest of wolves. They could live through the toughest of conditions and come out without a scratch. Some outsiders perceived them as gods who could move mountains at the flick of a paw. They seemed to be unstoppable.
The Gruff Guardians as the name suggested, guarded an ancient stream in a cave that even their ancestors guarded. This stream carries the blood of each leader that has been appointed. At every leader ceremony, he/she who becomes leader shall dip their paw into the freezing cold water and absorb the power of the ancients.
Little did they know of a sickness that blanketed the land they called home. Many members fell ill, majority died or were left by other members to die. It was a dark period for the pack, those alive had run off in hopes of saving themselves and their family from this invisible predator that they couldn’t fight. Their herbalist had fallen ill early on and was one of the first to pass away.
The stream was abandoned and the pack just a memory, that is until one day a loner and his new companion who carried the guardians’ DNA decided to return to the sacred place and restore its glory.
