Shadow Howlers

A bone-chilling breeze swept over your pelt, making you shiver and give a short whine. Lost and hungry, overwhelming scents of various other wolves, plants, and other wild animals took over your nasal airway. You give another growl of pain and wariness as you walk onto a sharp rock that was covered by the two foot snow. You were currently in the Deciduous Forest, which was very different from your den which was placed in the peaceful and serene meadows. You try in vain to sniff out an accurate rabbit, your increasing hunger and not to mention, your fear hindering you in many ways. Then, you spot a small rabbit sitting next to a tall and thick tree. Thank God! You think as you crouch low, readying for the pounce.

You let your legs spring you into the air and towards the unaware rabbit, but--TOO LATE! Those words rang in your head as another adroit form flew in and secured the squirming bunny. Angered, confused, and stressed, you look around and see nothing, no matter how high or low you look. Suddenly, you hear a deep, cold, and angry voice. "Behind you, theif." You spin around only to see a flash of dark brown, auburn, and cream before you feel a set of sharp teeth sink into your neck and claws into your stomach and back. You fall back, what little strength to fight you had dispersing quickly as your attacker hit you like a shotgun...

"Ngh!" You let out a groan as your eye opened slowly, blinking away the sleep-tears and shaking off the waves of drowsiness. You look around, panic overtaking your mind. You didn't recognize this, actually, very homey place and it put you on edge. On the wall were dozens of pelts of wolves and next to them was a chunk of tail fur matching the pelts. "Where on earth am I?" You growl, looking down at your aching body. You were stiff and you noticed bandages on your neck, back, and belly. "Oh--that's right. Got ambushed. I need to get out of here! I didn't mean to even wander into the Deciduous Forest!" You stand up and began to dash for the opening, only to feel a warm and seemingly maternal paw be placed on your back, just above the large bandage that covered most of it.
