Centuries ago, the land that is known in today's world as the Kingdom of Hyrule was covered in darkness. Because of this darkness that was spread across the land, inhabitants of predator and prey alike carried a common saying with them: "kill or be killed". The inhabitants had to fight for their survival with each passing day. And with sickness spreading rapidly every day that passed, it proved to be an even greater challenge to survive. Anyone and anything the inhabitants of the land came across could be infected with some type of disease. And if they weren't careful, they'd be its next victim.

With the endless reign of darkness over the land, the inhabitants began to lose their faith. But then, one day, they were able to see the light when an unfamiliar wolf with white fur, stained with speckles of black across their back, wandered into the land. The inhabitants learned that his wolf went by the name of Kiba.
