welcome to the greyvalley pack! the wolves greet you with a forced hospitality.

chronicles of us
chapter one: greyvalley's creation, liu's reign
the pack of greyvalley was founded by two males, mates of a forbidden relationship. where they came from was a strict and discriminating place, best known for malicious wolves and unsettling traditions. they both were the sons of two rivaling alphas, all because liu, the current and first king of greyvalley, was not a female. to end the war waging upon the old lands, the alphas expected a female to marry ben, the second alpha's eldest son. none of them thought about what would happen if one of them did not turn out a certain gender, and this caused much more conflict. despite that, liu and ben fell in love either way, and escaped from their unhealthy home to the deciduous forest of wolvden, where greyvalley was founded.

the pack are known for their adventurous ways. hunting is an instinct, but that doesn't mean they are good at it. constantly, hunting parties have a hard time successfully hunting down prey, and rely mostly on the wit and strength of their king. medicine is no problem, herbs are easy, so is scouting and pupsitting, but the main trait of survival to feed, it deludes the wolves here, and takes great amounts of effort to come back with even a critter. no matter, however, as the valley of grey can surpass this obstacle like every other. this, this is the first generation of the newfound pack, greyvalley.
remember, death is not the end of the entire book, but only the first chapter.

as the pack grew, the wolves began to notice something. an infestation in their lands of the deciduous. it plagued constantly at the wolves, nagging at them- it was always there, so common and so annoying, a permanent infestation that could never be dispelled; heat. naturally, most of the wolves here had fluffier coats, ones that were meant for colder areas. it was nice to have some heat once in a while, though, but the wolves didn't want it constantly. the king and his partner have been discussing how they should go about this problem, and what they should do. liu has an idea, however his two trusted scouts must first finish their discovering of this idea.

suddenly, liu's idea sprung into action! the pack has moved to a somewhat colder place, that is warm for shorter periods of time- the taiga! does this change their name? no, greyvalley live in a dull environment, and usually, everywhere they go is shrouded by their own melancholy. the pack took time to settle down, getting used to their environment... and with that, they accepted it- loved it even- with barely any hesitation.

hunting in this land has been fairly difficult, but none of them are surprised. hunting is an obstacle the pack of greyvalley can and will bypass! liu and his mate, ben, are persistent on taming the lands they call their own and making it easily accessible for the rest of the pack- safe, too. the hunting party needs a backup party as well, and liu is working on forming a new unit. but first, they'll need a lot more territory spaces for that, and shall be provided soon.

Unfortunately, the taiga proved to be too difficult for the new pack of greyvalley. no matter, liu deducted, the mountains had a similar taste to the taiga and could prove to be a much easier and happier biome! the wolves will continue their respective jobs for right now whilst their king goes out to survey the land and find a good opening within the mountains. everything will work out, and he will make sure of it.

the moving was a success! the mountains are certainly cozy, and hunting will be much easier now. five more wolves have entered the pack, and now have created unit two, another hunting group in-training! liu and ben find that everything is going excruciatingly well, and as we may have had our hardships up until now, greyvalley's story is far from over...

of course! the mountains were too crowded with other packs! some were friendly, though, but those friendly few were no correlation to the great amounts of aggressive packs. it was time to move again, and liu had received word from a nice owl he had met before saying that the grasslands were windy, which could provide a nice cool, and they were mostly secluded. this was sure to be the pack's great big home from now on! they'd just have to get there, first.

once again, another moving success! this feels definitely much cozier, less cramped. at first, liu couldn't even find that many wolves to chase off in the first place! though, he did it, and now the pack of greyvalley can settle down in a real valley, a nice outstretched land with not that many packs to be found! he did wonder, though, why such a beautiful place was so secluded... no matter! just made it better and easier for them during hunting.

over time, the greyvalley pack have created a more distinct system, now that their are many more members of the pack. this system is very much so a work in progress, and ben and liu have been discussing it over, along with will, for quite some time now. they have a saying; "one wolf may be deceit, two may be conspiracy, but three is the number i trust." that is to say that, originally, there were going to be a valley three, however they decided that that is not many that will make up a circle. instead, they decided on a distinct and reasonable number, the valley eight. the eight will consist of the king, the herbalist, the rangers (scouts), the hunt chief, the den sisters, and the pup-father.

the first five of the valley eight are self explanatory. however, den sisters and pup-father are much different.
the den sisters are a pair of female wolves who oversee hunting and pup-sitting. one of the females are a unit within a hunting party, whilst the other is commonly a pup-sitter or nursing herself. these two commonly speak to the ancestral and beyond, receiving omens and communing with those lost in the past. they can act as storytellers, too.
the pup-father is a skilled protector, commonly an elderly pup-sitter. he sees to peace and diplomacy within the pack as well and acts as a storyteller. he, much like the den sisters, receive omens and signs from the beyond, but he does not communicate much with the beyond.
