Pack of Bright Moon

You snap around, baring your teeth, ready to attack if needed. A gray wolf stares back at you, yellow eyes reflecting the sun. Her tail is lowered, and her posture relaxed, telling you she isn't intending a fight. Her fur is dappled with black and white patches that remind you of the snow-capped mountains. Your own fur is still bristling.

You tilt your head slightly, maintaining your stiff stance, but your fur is beginning to smooth slightly. "I apologize for intruding," you say. "But your borders aren't marked very clearly."

The other wolf tilts her head back at you, but you're not sure if she's mocking you. "I'll be sure to inform my pack that they need to step up on that, then," she says. "What brings you here? Can I help you?"

"I am trying to familiarize myself with my pack's surroundings," you say. "I have been exploring these grasslands but was unaware there were other wolves living here. My name is ______."

The other wolf nods slowly. "My name is Eevie. If you would like, I can offer a tour led by yours truly, the wolf who knows this land like the back of her paw. But, in exchange, you must promise not to roam this territory again unless you need to pass a message or request help of some sort. Agreed?"

You aren't entirely sure how serious she is. You don't normally have strange wolves offering tours of their territory. But you are confident you can defend yourself should things go awry, and she seems nonthreatening. You don't think you would come back to such a friendly welcome if you disagreed and continued exploring later, anyway. "Alright. Agreed," you say with a nod. 

Eevie pricks her ears towards you and wags her tail gently. "Let us begin, then," she replies, turning and walking quickly away, the grass already beginning to swallow her. You bound after her, thoughts racing. This will surely be interesting.
