Land of the Domesticated - Role-Play

((Fauna isn't with the group- she's out separately with Achilles))

Fauna | Female (she/her) | Greyhound | Herbalist | Location: Forest | Mentions: Achilles

Before the apocalypse hit, scavenging for herbs was relatively difficult. However, while the radiation caused damage and even death to some, it seemed to cause others to flourish- Fauna and the plants included. She nosed about the heavy greenery, taking note of the environment and deeming the clay-like soil to be a perfect environment for some of the plants she was seeking. She glanced off briefly in the direction of the wolfdog to ensure that he was faring well, considering that the task he was given wasn't the most enjoyable (at least for those who didn't dabble/obsess over botany). He seemed to be ok, so she focused on her nose when she detected a familiar scent.

Using her narrow muzzle, she pushed through the undergrowth until she happened upon a small patch of tobacco plants. She grinned to herself, pleased with her much-needed discovery, before she went to work with using her sharp teeth to snip some of the leaves free. The old vixen had taught her that if she didn't damage the plants too much, they'd sometimes continue to regrow, so that they could be reused later on.

The long-limbed canine slowly backed out of the undergrowth, her mouth partially stuffed with tobacco leaves. She didn't exactly enjoy the taste- she understood why pests didn't like tobacco, either. Fauna beamed when she noted the coneflowers beside Achilles, and thanked him with brief wag of her slender tail. "Perfect!" She hummed. "We only need the roots, but if you have a special someone, I'm sure they'd love the flowers as well. We needn't waste any part of the plant, after all."

Runa | (she/her) | Maned wolf | Loner | Location: Abandoned neighborhood | Mentions: None

The female maned wolf left the abandoned park and the apple tree that had given her nourishment behind. She wanted to do a little exploration around Sirenchester, see if she could find essential things for her survival. Things like a human abandoned den she could use as a shelter for winter and its unforgiving ice and snow, a place that had constant clean water and food.

Runa wandered through the empty streets that were once only inhabited by humans and their loyal companions. She found herself in an abandoned neighborhood, one of the houses had called her attention. The maned wolf approached it, the entrance in the front of the human den was blocked by a straight barrier made of wood. It had some small scratches that looked old, the scent of the creature that had made the scratches vanished long ago with time.

She walked around the human den, going to the yard in the back of the house. The entrance of behind was transparent, made of a material of name unknown to the wild canine. It was half way open, with some small pushes she would be able to enter the abandoned den with no trouble. She entered the human den and looked around the room, dustied floor and forgotten objects around. Runa walked through the house, looking at the contents of each room. She found an old medium sized dog bed and a blanket, the humans that once lived there probably had a dog as a pet. Near the bed a blanket was laying on the ground, it had the drawings of multiple moons in its many phases. It had some dust on it, she grabbed it with her jaws and shook it to get rid of the dust.

The maned wolf didn’t have a den to claim as her own for a small period of time. “I guess I’ll just carry it with me”, she thought. She left the den and went to the abandoned human den’s backyard. Runa didn’t want to claim a temporary den yet, her species are wanderers and she wanted to explore the town some more.

She went to the street in front of the abandoned human den she had explored and scratched her paws against the asphalt to mark her scent there, like a little warning that she had passed by.

Achilles - NB Male (he/they) - Wolf/Shepherd - Scout - Location: Forest - Mentions: Fauna

While nosing through the plants, Achilles sharp nose picked up a bitter smell and he lifted his head up to determine the source. It reminded him too much of humans, though he couldn't determine what the smell was. He relaxed upon seeing Fauna, with a mouthful of plants, the acrid scent clearly from the leaves held in her mouth. She seemed more at ease foraging in the woods, at least compared to her skittishness back at camp. The difference in her temperament made him curious, but he was glad she seemed somewhat comfortable in his presence. As sometimes his appearance,size-wise- and reduced speech- put other canines on edge.

At her remark about a special someone, he let out a quiet, embarrassed breath, dipping his head to look at the flowers. While Fauna was right, it would be valuable to not waste any part of the plant, Achilles didn't have anyone he could give the flowers to. He was still struggling slightly with making personal relationships with the rest of the pack, a fault all his own, as he chose to scout alone most days. But, Fauna needn't be privy to the struggles in his personal relationships, and he doubted she'd want to be, so he looked back up and glanced around the area they were in once more. "Do you need anything else, or do you need to take what we have back to camp first?" He picked up his pile of flowers and roots from the ground, gently as to not break the stems with his teeth, ready to go for Fauna's next decision.

Sunrise - September 22nd (Fall) - Weather: Sunny with a side of Clouds - Days since apocalypse: 61

Binx - Gender Apathetic - Husky/Wolf - Alpha - Location: Heading to Sirenchester - Mentions: Kirameki, Sigma, Shiroi

"Then we'll head out now. Everyone else should be fine until we get back." Binx took the lead out of camp, looking back once to check to see that the three that were coming with him were following. He knew a way into the town that should be less populated by strays than most other spots. The buildings around that area would most likely be hard to get into, but it wasn't just the homes he wanted to get to. If they could find a store or something and find a way inside, there should be useful food items they could take back. Scavenging right now was going to help them more than hunting would. Most of the dogs back at camp probably would struggle with hunting, but he knew they could learn. The ones that had been pets their whole lives would struggle the most, but he had faith in his pack.

Akira | Female(she/her) - Maned Wolf - Scout | Location: Camp - Mentions: Open

Seeing the group of pack members head out with the alpha Akira decides to take her time and roam the camp. She can do some perimeter checks while getting to know the camps layout better. Taking her time to observe her surroundings she begins to walk to the outer edges of the territory. She also keeps an eye out for any pack members who stayed behind that may need help or for any unwanted trespassers who have lost their way and need some redirecting. The thought of trespassers gives her a bit of a chill that runs up her fur and makes her ears flatten a bit. It was different when she was alone, back then it was just fend for yourself. You could easily move on from an area or hide until the attackers left but now she had a place of her own and other members to protect. Akira hates fighting and violence in general but knows that if it came down to it she would protect and defend her newfound pack no matter what the cost. Though she knows less than half the pack at the moment she trusts Binx's judgement and knows each member was specially chosen and worth fighting for.

While looking at the colorful fall trees she could smell the hints of winter on the afternoon breeze. Last winter was rough on her own. Many cold and hungry nights. She hoped this winter would be more forgiving but she and the other members would be fools to underestimate the powers of mother nature. Though she feared the oncoming cold she knew she had to stay strong and help in any way she could to prepare for the hard days to come. She couldn't even begin to imagine living in the last winter with a coat like some of the other pack members. They'd need to take every measure to ensure the pack's safety and survival. A shiver puffs up her red coat and she shakes out her lanky paws before walking on, a new determination setting in her heart as she goes.

Shiroi | Female (she/her) | Border Collie | Hunter | Location: Camp | Mentions: Kira, Sigma, Binx

Shiroi was walking behind the alpha, beside Sigma. She was walking at a steady pace, but it looked like she had some energy she could get out. Her ears were flicking back and forth, her warm eyes watching and alert. She had it in her mind that she was ready to shoot out any quills if it would be necessary, but kept her mental controls at hold. She didn't want to lose any on accident and possibly injure a packmate.

Kirameki - Female (she/her) | Golden Retriever | Scout | Location: Camp - Mentions: Binx, Shiroi, Sigma

Kirameki was ahead of the group by a little, her nose to the ground. She was trying to pick up any smell of food from underneath the crisscrossing scents of passing loners. Her ears were perked, however, listening for any words from her alpha. She wanted to make sure she heard if he said anything. However, her tail was waving slightly. She was glad that the alpha had chosen her to come along, for she felt like this was an important job for the new pack.

I thought we were in the suburbs looking for blankets/supplies?

(Well, your turn was not very accurate. You left out Kirameki, and you added Fauna in. Binx never stated that Oliver was going along with the group (and said that he looked back at the three, which were Kira, Shiroi, and Sigma, for they all volunteered, and you also controlled other's characters, such as Binx and my own Shiroi. They are looking for supplies, correct, but food is a part of that. The hunters will be hunting soon, yes, but Echis (Binx) stated that scavenging was going to help more than hunting, so they are also looking for food. If they do find things, I believe that they should find it slowly instead of all in one turn (my own opinion). I'm sure he would be pleased if you followed along with the roleplay correctly. Please understand that I am not trying to be rude, I am just making sure you understand all of the things that have happened and that are correct c:)

Runa | Female (she/her) | Maned wolf | Loner | Location: Abandoned neighborhood | Mentions: None

She looked at the rest of the street, it looked infinite but she knew that it wasn’t. Long streets were good, at least in this situation, it meant more human dens to explore and the possibility of finding important resources or a possible temporary den for winter. It was important that she had many options, you never know when some other canine or other creature may try to steal your den.

The maned wolf was holding the blanket with her jaws while she made her little exploration, she planned to hide it somewhere and explore some more. She had no den to hide it, she would have to find a hiding spot to it. The tall canine knew that probably there were many more blankets spread out around the town but it was good to claim one as her own already. She knew that the next season was winter, thanks to her thick fur she wouldn’t suffer as much as any canine that had short fur but extra warmth wouldn’t hurt.

Runa wandered through the streets, she found a human den that had the exterior painted yellow, the front entrance’s barrier made of wood was laying on the ground. She managed to enter the house easily due the broken door, the wild canine walked around the house searching for anything that looked interesting. Runa left her blanket on the couch, a place she could spot the blanket easily. The maned wolf entered a room that was mostly white with wood boxes everywhere, unknowingly to her it was a kitchen. She found an open cabinet and a strange object caught her attention, a ripped bag with dog food. It was dry, round and some of them were colorful.

She didn’t know the name of this type of food but she was curious about how they tasted. The maned wolf never ever had seen food like this, she had seen rabbits eat grass, birds eat seeds and other canines eat meat but she had never seen this type of food. Runa dared to take a gentle bite of it, the dry pellets were crushed under her teeth. “It’s awfully bland”, she thought, “What type of creature even eats these?”. The maned wolf gulped the dog food, went back to where she had left her blanket and grabbed it.

She left the abandoned human den, wondering where she should go next. “Maybe find food that isn’t flavorless or bland?
