Cutting the puppet’s strings

the words coming from Elric worried Robert. he's never intentionally harmed a single one of his patients unless it was dire and necessary. a bit confused he spoke, "who beats you?" he let out, wincing slightly at the idea of this jester being hurt to the extent that it would be called a beating. Robert didn't want to rush an answer out of the shorter male. he just decided to sit down, and not look in the other direction, he faced an adjacent wall to the one that Elric was closest to.


"my intentions are to help you not hurt you like whoever you speak of though." his tone was soft as he tried to appear as harmless as he could to keep from scaring the other.

Puppet had many claim they wanted to help, to be his friend yet they always took advantage of him
"C-can't they'll just make it worse"
He sniffled and shook a bit more, he was scared, cold and hates this place with the fiber of his being for it reminded him of the cage, a cage he will be sent too once let out to the circus. His thoughts were spiraling and he slowly crawled up to Robert and simply made his way into his lap to curl up much like a house cat, revealing short spikes flaring out yet they felt soft. Robert would feel Puppet's body shake slightly but also his body slowly absorbing his heat with a rush of fear pulsating through, it would be the oddest sensation for it seemed he would feel exactly what Puppet was feeling, pained, tired, cold and overwhelmed of life. The longer Puppet stayed on Robert's lap the more he would calm
"C-can you…g-get me a..nightlight…?"
He asked hesitantly

frowning lightly the first words that left the jester made him sad, it made some sense for Elric not to trust so quickly but still, it hurt the fact that people would betray this guy. accepting the smaller's motions he let Elric curl on his lap Ribert turned his head to look at the curled up male. a frown still there as Robert stares at the small jester. the idea of a nightlight may work but he couldn't entirely do that. he couldn't comply and give a possible danger to the younger, but he could at least try to cooperate; try to negotiate.


"i can try to do that, just please don't hold it over me if i can't." his tone was quiet and his words soft, but he wasn't going to be able to entirely put a nightlight in there with him, but maybe have them leave a light on to light up the room.

Puppet nod a little, he knew how the system works, he will he sent back to the circus with this stranger and is expected to be "normal" yet every time he tried to let the therapist work or talk to then he always end up beaten. He would slowly crawl off of Robert's lap and run his fingers through his dark blue hair, eyeing him with a somber expression. His inky eyes held white specks on them that moved about like falling snow yet considering his mood they moved slowly with some fading and slowly reappearing
"Now this is Robert, and he will be going home with you Puppet"
The boss had been watching and made his way inside the room, the jester will slowly stand up yet his demeanor had shifted a little, seeming a bit irritated, the white flacks in his eyes now speeding up their falling pattern
"Don't tell me…he's going to break like the last one? Or the one bEfoRe thAt?!"
His voice went deep and fractured as his eye started to twitch
"I….I'm trying so hard Davis, I really am….but how you possibly pair me up with those who say I can trust them only to try BreAkInG Me InSteAd?!"
The way Puppet spoke went from agitated to depressed, then agitated once more, a sign he meant his words but was frustrated with the treatment he's received. Still, he took the effort to hold his hand out for Robert to help himself get up

Robert read Elric's demeanor as his boss walked in. he was still sat on the floor and he looked up to the man. confused he looked back and forth from the two of them. not even caring to let in the conversation. he watched his new patient's eyes, the crackling of his voice. the male was making him sad, his sad appearance, upset tone. he shouldn't be able to "break" me he thought confused for a second before replaying the lash out the jester had prior to their interaction.


"I'm sure you're not that hard to deal with." he tried to lighten the mood, testing if it would cause more distress than good to the patient

Puppet saw how Robert didn't take his hand and drew it back to his side almost in disgust to his own hand then peered down at it
"Am I that repulsive?"
He whimpered under his breath, he went through so much this very morning, he meant to defend himself yet the public was so quick to point the finger upon him. His thoughts spiraled and soon his eyes went completely dull, he heard the other speaking but failed to hear, lost in his own self misery and trauma, he saw no point in trying yet he has such intense urges, naturally he was bound to snap. He peered back at the boos and right when he aaa about to speak Puppet snapped his head to the right and the flakes in his started to fall once more like snow
"NoPe!"
Was all he said before heading out, shoving the man to the side
"COmE Here RoBert~ Aren't You sUpPoSe To FollOw PUPpEt??"
The jester's voice was fractured once more as he made his way down the hall

Robert realized that the hand wasnt pointing at him but offering him to get up. instant regret. he stood up quickly confused he just followed. not even caring to acknowledge his boss. he did stop to grab the rubber ball incase he needed it to distract the blue-haired male again.


he didn't speak. he felt a ball in his throat of regret, but he followed in pace behind Elric, to keep the jester from doing too much, and possibly hurting someone. but he wasn't going to comment, he would try distraction as much as possible with Elric. Robert assumes that reality checking would just fuel more distraught and chaos.

(Ah just saw yer side note with the postin before finished an thanks GODS me response still works lol)

The other wards were quick to move aside from Puppet yet there was some clamor regarding the new hand sent to help the broken jester, rumors of Robert being sent to feed the "beast" along with some placing bets on  how long it will take before he snaps, both Robert and Puppet having one of his episodes. When they reached the entrance Puppet hissed sharply at the one opening the door for him, and in the driveway was already a blacked out SUV, Puppet paused for a moment before making his way towards it and entered the back, waiting for Robert get inside. It would be then that many of the other wards would stare out the door and various windows, they knew this all too well

glancing about a bit, Robert would be last to say this was weird. everyone watched as the jester was escaping freely with nobody caring. they were wandering out like nothing. but seeing Elric just hop into the SUV without a second thought worried him. but he followed nonetheless. he was prepared to fight someone if this was a trap, but he had to show some trust in his patient---even if he was in an episode---he needed reassurance that Robert wasn't there to hurt him.


"soo--" Robert's throat was dry as he tried to start a conversation. apologetic eyes on the other as his heart was beating faster than anything. he was terrified of the fact this jester could get him killed.
