It's been a while, but The Wolf and The Whale is a somewhat unknown book that I enjoyed ... it mostly has wolves, though, it's not about them!

Guardians of Ga’hoole and Wolves of the Beyond have both been on my back burnered ‘maybe I should read that’ list for a long time.

Ooooo, The Immortals by Tamora Pierce.  The main character is a mage who can speak to animals!  The books take place after this, but she ran away after the death of her mother and was taken in by a wolf pack for a while.  In the second book, she tracks down her old pack and spends some time with them <3

I love the ElfQuest series.  It's now available to read in its entirety online but it's all about a partnership between elves and wolves - and it's a darn good story with some pretty amazing art.  They are all graphic novels.

Oh, and a total vote for Farley Mowat's "Never Cry Wolf."  Good book.

I read Midnight's Sun by Garry Kilworth as a teenager and loved it. He also wrote a book called Hunter's Moon which is about foxes.

The Sight and Fell, he has other books that take place in the same universe but are not wolf related. Those would be Firebringer and Scream of the White Bear.

The Wolf chronicles by Dorothy Hearst is also a fun series to read.

I forgot, but Wolves of Mercy Falls! Well, that's werewolves, but it still comes to mind.

I definitely recommend The Sight and its sequel Fell. They're good books, and while not exactly on par with classics like Watership Down, they're definitely a massive step above mediocre animal fiction literature like the Warrior Cats series.

The Firekeeper saga by Jane Lindskold is high fantasy with some excellent wolves - I read them before reading Game of Thrones and found the direwolves greatly disappointing in comparison. There are 8 books, but I've only read the first 6 so far.
