Application Form

Are you knowledgeable on Chernobyl?:

I have seen a couple of documentaries here and there, but from what I've seen and read, it looks very interesting!

Character Count: (how many do you typically play)

1-3, however I'm likely going to start with just one.

Interested in High Rank(s)?:

If the opportunity presents itself, yes.

Typical Response Length/Time:

Depending on outside activities, response time ranges from 5 minutes to a couple of hours or so.

Should There be a Rival Dog Pack?: (it would be open to play, there are currently 7 dog slots open to play to begin!)

For sure! It would be very interesting to see how the dogs and wolves interact with each other and the world.

Suggestions? Ideas?:

None that I can think of that others haven't mentioned.

Concerns? Questions?:

Not at the moment.

Roleplay Sample:

(For context, this is an excerpt from a story I have been working on about a young explorer in the Antarctic. I hope this is okay, since I haven’t done any serious roleplaying in a while and don’t have any decent examples)

Tall and bright rays of sun shone over the landscape. The morning sun had painted the snow faint pastel colours, but this beautiful sight was not to last for long. The only non-native addition to the landscape was a bright orange tent next to a sled and a buried chain connected to two lumps of snow. A man in a thick coat, heavy boots and snow pants pulled himself out of the canvas tent on his stomach. He rolled onto his back and sat up, snow crunching beneath him. The young man sat there for a moment, squinting his eyes as he looked over the horizon. His tired eyes hadn’t adjusted to the stark white landscape just yet. The man reached around his tent and brushed the light snow off a bag with his bare hand, flinching at the cold. On the bag, there was a white label with black letters. The label read ‘Kakeesheway Bear’. Kakeesheway unzipped the bag roughly and took out a pair of dark sun glasses. He put them on as he got to his feet, stretching his arms and legs.

‘Being cramped in a small tent all night sure does stiffen one’s joints’ he thought, eyes still focused on the sunrise. Kakeesheway sighed and began to pack his things. He put everything in a sled, which held various equipment, clothes, food, water and a few other essentials. The chain and lumps of snow had become active since Kakeesheway started packing. “Morning Ikkuma.” he said with a chuckle, as a red-and-white Qimmiq dog rose his head out of the snow. “Come on Rune, gotta get to work, little lady.” he continued, walking over to the remaining fully covered dog.  Kakeesheway took three harnesses out of one of the pockets of a bag on the sled. The sound of the velcro being ripped open had told the dogs it was time to run! A white dog with a lone black marking between her ears was now jumping at the end of her chain, barking excitedly. Ikkuma stretched and yawned before joining the morning chorus. Kakeesheway, as usual, had little trouble fitting the harnesses on the dogs and to the long towline, which had an extra hook and loop in the middle. He put his own harness on, as well as a pair of skis, and hoked himself between the dogs and the sled.

“Hike!!” Kakeesheway shouted. The dogs took off, the man being jolted forward, as he wasn’t ready for this much energy from the dogs. “Easy, easy.” He said calmly, the dogs slowing to a steady trot. The three of them crossed across the soft snow, the sky now a bright solid blue.

Are you knowledgeable on Chernobyl?:

I'm not, but like others have said, I'm more than willing to look into it.

Character Count:

For now, I'd like to stick to 1-3 characters at the start- but I have roleplayed up to 6-8.

Interested in High Rank(s)?:

Yes I am!

Typical Response Length/Time:

Generally a few hours to a few days! If I'm busy, I'll let the people I'm roleplaying with know though. As for length, at least 2-4 paragraphs depending on what I have to go off of!

Should There be a Rival Dog Pack?:

I think that would add some really interesting dynamics, so yes!

Should the Town of Pripyat (the closest to Chernobyl Nuclear Plant) be a visit-able location?:

That would be super cool, so I would say yes.

Suggestions? Ideas?:

N/A, this looks extremely exciting!

Concerns? Questions?:

N/A

Roleplay Sample:

The wind gently blew Cyrille's fur as he continued through the dry land, his head raised among the medium-lengthed grass... They'd followed Farren's scent to here. Farren, the Beta of the pack, had gone missing... And it seemed to only be raising the tensions among Rengard. Cyrillus had enough of this; he wanted answers. From who, he didn't exactly know- but he knew that his packmates were all aiming their accusations towards one group: the Guardians of Meldal.

"We're here," he announced softly to his packmates, continuing to trot up the land. Upon coming to a slope, the scent grew stronger- and he saw it.

Her body.

Mangled, torn to shreds.

She wouldn't have been very distinguishable, if it weren't for the scent. Cyrillus knew what she smelled like.

"...Farren," he sighed, voice lowered. There was a heavy tone of grief in his vocals, slowly padding forward. It was as if his paws wanted to hold him back; steps heavy as he approached the female's lifeless body.

He couldn't believe his eyes.

The strangest part of it all, in fact, was that there was no scent- no sign that this was the dog's doing. But how could they be so sure? His eyes narrowed as he examined her body, tears welling at the brims- but he did the best he could to disguise them from his pack. They didn't need to see his weakness, his uncertainty; no. Not now.

"We'll find who did this," he said, voice steady. What was sadness turned to anger and confusion. He needed answers, and he needed them now. If it weren't for the humans, Cyrillus would march himself straight into those mutt's camp.

And from afar, he spotted... Something. Ahead, there was a group of... Dogs. They must've been watching him. Were they to blame? Those mutts.

He couldn't help the anger that had washed over him. Cyrillus looked up from Farren's body, storming past it and towards the dogs that were ahead. "Did you do this?" He snapped to them, obviously at a loss of his temper.

His fur was raised, eyes narrowed. There hadn't been such a look of pain and sorrow on the Alpha's face ever, before. Nothing had shaken him like this. His lips were peeled back in a slight snarl as he approached, although there were no signs of him attacking- he maintained a healthy distance away from the Guardians of Meldal.

"Farren," he began, voice rather distraught. "Our Beta. She has been killed."

hey! this looks awesome, but I've never actually RP'd before (though I have tons of experience with writing &  have played roleplaying games like D&D) so would probably be a bit slow/uncertain at first. Is this open to beginners? I totally understand if not!

@Crickets - We are absolutely open to beginners, as long as you can prove literacy! If you want to provide a writing sample, as long as it is over a paragraph long, I'll be more than happy to send you an invite so you can come check us out!

Alright then! Here's my app! I sent you a slightly longer writing sample over PMs in case this isn't enough.

Are you knowledgeable on Chernobyl?:

I am not! But I do love a good wiki walk, so I’m happy to learn more about it.

Character Count (how many do you typically play):

Just one! I’m new to this so better to keep it simple to start I think.

Interested in High Rank(s)?:

Not to start! Like I said above, I’m new, so I don’t wanna be in charge of anything aha!

Typical Response Length/Time:

Well due to Current World Events I’m pretty much stuck at home, as all of my uni classes have moved online, so I'll be by my computer a decent chunk of the day. And I’m a decently quick writer, so I should have a shortish response time.

Should There be a Rival Dog Pack?: (it would be open to play, there are currently 7 dog slots open to play to begin!)

I think it’d be interesting! I’m actually really fascinated by the differences between domestic and wild animals & a lot of the dynamics surrounding that, so seeing that play out could be cool!

Suggestions? Ideas?:

Not really! This idea sounds really neat, I’m excited to get into it!

Concerns? Questions?:

Just that I’m new; I don’t know how a lot of this works, so I’ll probably be a bit slow / get some things wrong to start rip

Roleplay Sample

Don’t have one, so here’s an excerpt from some lore I’ve written up for my Wolvden account instead. Let me know if you need something else/more:

A chunk of snow hits Rime in the side of the head.

Dace is conspicuously focused, when Rime turns around, her head ducked low to the ground, hunting for scent-trails. Rime squints– yes, there. Dace’s mouth is twitching with the effort not to laugh.

Well.

Rime shakes off the snow and trots on ahead– or. 'Trots' is a strong word. Wades ahead, the snow chest-deep and clinging– but at least cold enough to be powdery.

She sneaks a glance ahead; Hoot and Grackle didn’t notice a thing, naturally. Only a leap away, they’re still a little obscured by snow– the blizzard had blown in thick, that morning, and didn’t seem to plan on thinning out. Well– it would probably OK, then.

Mid-stride, Rime whips around; Dace freezes, her eyes comically wide– she’s braced up on her hind legs, ready to go shaking another tree. The branches, heavy with snow, would have dumped a whole drifts’ worth right onto Rime’s head. Dace gives Rime a sheepish look, dropping to all-fours. She wriggles up, tail wagging, her mouth falling open in a grin. Her breath gusts out visibly, the freezing air turning it instantly to smoke.

The wind howls incessantly; ahead of them, hunched against the chill, Hoot and Grackle won’t hear a thing. Rime checks– double checks. Then:

“Dace,” she says, under her breath, and Dace pauses, one paw lifted in an exaggerated stalking pose.

“What? I’m practicing my hunting!”

“By dumping snow on me?”

“It’s… a special move! Um, that I’m developing.” Dace holds still, a moment longer, to see if that’s gonna fly, and then Rime can’t resist, anymore. Her tail keeps wanting to wag, looking at Dace stuck in that stupid pose.

“Special move this,” she growls, and leaps at Dace. She misses, but kicks up a ton of snow when she lands, and buries Dace up to the ears.

Dace laughs, springing up through the drift like a rabbit, spraying snow in every direction. She growls, playfully, and leaps back at Rime, her breath leaving a comet-trail of fog in the air behind her.

Rime dodges, skittering for purchase on a patch of ice–

“Rime.”

Oops. She had skidded right up to Hoot. The big adult is scowling down at her, snow heaped on her head.  She looks irritated; thin with hunger and tired already, and now this. How embarrassing. Bad enough to do that sort of thing to Hat Trick; but to Hoot- big, cool, former-loner Hoot, with all the good stories, and–

Hoot is still looking at her, expectant.
