Cave Crawler (NPC) - Grasslands // Galactic Ones Territory The timber shewolf turned her head to Anise after listening to her words. "Interesting..." Cave Crawler paused for a moment. "Hmm, I suppose that would be nice. I'm usually always busy, however, so I'll have to visit sometime in the fall." She'd give Anise a polite smile. "Thank you for telling me, though! Can't wait to learn more about these miracle berries!" Cece woofed, her tail swaying slightly. Berry Bark & Setting Suns (NPC) - Grasslands Berry strolled through the grasslands, having just left the Cedar tree cluster her pack called home. She noticed Aloe following, but paid him no mind. Maybe he'll be useful later when we find that coyote pack. Berry thought, padding off to the rolling hills not too far away. Accompanying her was a pink and blue wolf, Setting Suns. He walked just a few feet ahead of the alpha, sniffing the air for any scent of coyotes. "They're somewhere beyond the hills." He told Berry, but she grumbled and picked up her pace to a canter. The scout sighed, ears flattened in annoyance. Berry Bark climbed up a hill, scanning the vast area. There was a herd of bison passing by in the distance, but she kept looking. Close to the treeline of a nearby forest, Berry Bark caught sight of a group of coyotes. The golden pelted shewolf then began racing towards the coyotes, but Setting Suns remained further behind to watch the situation. |

Anise carefully wrapped the pellets in her leaf pouch, tucking them away along with the herbs Cece had given her. "Thanks so much! I learned a lot," Anise chirped enthusiastically, going through every new herb in her mind, memorizing each shape and color so she could identify them in the wild. "I'll definitely try making antidote. Hmm, how far is the Cactus Heart… or Fossil Pack, they need this too…" Mapping out the area in her mind, Anise traced a route onto the ground with her claw. "It'll be really useful. Thank you. And I'll draw a map later so you can get to the pack with the miracle berries." |

Cece nodded. "You're welcome!" The timber shewolf gave a happy woof at the fellow herbalist. "And thank you. I've never heard of wolves using a map." The word was pretty new to her. The Galactic Ones had become an isolated pack a little over a generation ago with the rise of their fourth alpha, so they were "old school" in a sense. "If you need any other remedies or herbs for your journey, you know where to find me!" Berry Bark & Setting Suns (NPC) - Grasslands Berry rushed into battle against eleven coyotes. It wasn't uncommon for them to have larger packs, especially in prey rich areas, but Berry Bark didn't want any of them near the pack. Too many puppies would be put in danger if they kept getting closer to the territory. The golden brown shewolf charged at the group, but they kept scattering. The coyotes were a bit too fast for her, and speed definitely wasn't her expertise, so she struggled to avoid nips to the hind quarters while aiming bites at the opponents. The smaller group of four she faced before was easier to chase off, but it was more difficult with a larger group. The colorful scout watched from atop a hill. He simply sat down and watched things unfold. It was better to study his opponents than rushing straight into battle. He was prepared to step in when Berry Bark was in real trouble, but she was still holding off well enough for him not to interfere. Geez, we really need wolves patrolling the territory if we're going to have this many coyotes hanging around the outskirts. Setting Suns pondered why they were lurking near the pack while keeping his eyes on the battle. |

"I'll be sure to remember this pack," Anise said cheerfully, then turned around and let out a breath, standing on her hind legs to curiously sniff at more herbs. "So how big is uh… Galactic Ones, was it? It must be pretty big if you forget names." She giggled. "Don't worry, my memory's not amazing either." That was most definitely not true, but Anise had a little habit of sculpting her personality to match others. And she liked fitting in. |

Aloe brightened a bit when Anise said this. "The Galactic One's Pack is pretty big" He replied. "So" He added nervously "They wouldn't really miss me... which means uh um maybe I could come with you for a little while?" He muttered. "So you can... remember me" He said lookin up and smiling a little. Another small bird flew into the cave and dropped a piece of bark at Aloe's paws. Then, the little bird darted over to sit beside Aloe's bird. Aloe bent down and read the note. Just got back from a foraging trip. Where are you? - Kava was scratched into the surface. He smiled and, using his teeth gnawed this onto the other side of the bark: Glad your back. I'm in a cave near raven's point, with two she wolves. One is a herbalist like you. "Come here" He whistled at Kava's bird when he finished gnawing. He nudged the bark at her and she picked it up and darted away. |

"Yep! Around 45 adults if I'm correct, not including our travelers." She smiled. "At least the pack is healthy for the most part." Cave Crawler had a small frown after Aloe's comment about being remembered. Although herbalists are supposed to be important members in their pack, Cave Crawler also felt ignored by most of the pack. Her uncles and the alpha were the main wolves who interacted with her, not including her now deceased grandmother. "Well, save travels on your journey, Aloe." She gave him a polite smile. She couldn't held but admire his bird taming abilities. It was something the pack has never seen before until those twins showed up- Aloe and Kava. |

"Oh—" Anise smiled at Aloe. "Sure! Be warned, though, I barely stay in one place for long unless there's a sick wolf I need to help, so you might get tired if you're not used to traveling." She looked over his shoulder at what he was writing. "What does that mean? I'm not familiar with this language." She squinted at the bark before the bird flew away. "Could I see your throat? Is it a visible deformity? Or could I feel it if I touched your neck or something? Wow, that bird's pretty. Who are you sending that to? Do all the wolves here have pet birds?" She stopped herself, blinking. "Sorry, that's too many questions. I… need to break that habit." She chuckled awkwardly. |

Aloe looked up and grinned a Anise. "Traveling isn't a problem, as I'm a scout" He said. "What I gnawed on that bark was written in a special language that wolves amongst the Galactic Ones Pack call 'Old Wolf'. I think it was what wolves of the past used to speak and write." He replied and took a deep breath before continuing. "That was my twin brother Kava telling me he was back from a foraging trip and that he was coming to see me... he's a herbalist." He continued. "The deformity in my throat is visible and you can see if you'd like." He said awkwardly. "And no, other wolves do not use birds as messengers" He finished, and smiled. |

"Yep! Since the beginning of the pack, we've been using the language. I'll admit I'm rusty at 'Old Wolf' language." She chuckled. It was yet another tradition the pack was losing. Around twelve wolves in the pack still spoke 'Old Wolf' but most of them had long running bloodlines in the pack or were elders. Berry Bark was one of them, since she's the descendant of the pack's founder. Though, her grandmother was a primary teacher of the language when she was still alive. Despite her being a complete outsider, she quickly learned the pack's history and traditions well. "But I must admit, Aloe and Kava were a pleasant surprise to the pack because of their unique talents." She smiled warmly at Aloe. "It makes sending messages easier over long distances." Cave Crawler added. Berry Bark & Setting Suns (NPC) - Grasslands Berry Bark began to get overwhelmed by the coyotes. They were smarter than she realized, and they would attack in pairs from different angles. Though she managed to land a few bites on some of them, that didn't compare to the multitude of nips and scratches she obtained from all of them. "SETTING SUNS, GET YOUR CARCASS OVER HERE NOW!" She howled in anger. Setting Suns had been sitting on that hill the entire time. He mumbled something to himself before padding over casually. He was clearly in no rush to help his alpha, which made Berry Bark even more upset. Together, the two managed to take down three out of the eleven. The coyotes still kept up their assault, however. As a last ditch effort, Setting Suns persuaded the coyotes to chase him by running just fast enough to avoid their nips while still close enough to tempt them into biting him. He ran off somewhere towards the direction of the deciduous forests, away from the pack territory. Though three other coyotes stayed behind to fight Berry, she was able to drive them off and they joined the rest of their pack in chasing the scout. Berry huffed, walking back to the territory. I'm sure he can handle it since he likes to wait until wolves beg him for help. Berry grumbled as she padded off, not daring to look back. |

"Wow, that's so interesting!" Anise yipped, her eyes shining. "I wonder how many packs use that language… you're the first ones I've ever seen using it. And it's be nice not to be alone on my travels. It's been a while since I had company." She glanced at Aloe, then walked up closer to him, examining his throat. "Can I… um… would you?" She gestured for him to open his mouth. (( ima make another character since berry and suns seem a bit lonely lol )) |
