More Roles for Pack Members

More Roles for Pack Members
Posted 2022-11-29 10:49:44 (edited)
This is just a general plea for more roles,  I  think there is a huge deficit in stuff for pack members to do. It is one of the main parts of the game but has seen very little development in any of  the game updates so far.
As it sits now we have hunting/pup sitting/scouting/herbalist/mentor
Hunting and Scouting are really the only ways to gain any significant stats at this time. The multiple party hunting update was amazing but I would love to see some other roles that our pack members can do that actually help them gain stats.  I have seen a lot of suggestion posts for specific ideas of roles to add for pack members that seem really fun and creative.  Please consider a role expansion to help keep the game fresh and engaging and to keep players involved with their packs!

i agree! there should be roles like pup scholar's (the training area should be for adolescents). thats all ive got though. maybe a scout and herbalist upgrade so that more than one can seach and make stuff.

Maybe a wolf similar to a scout where it keeps watch over the borders of the territory? That could remind people of some unsavory politics if they read too much into it, though I like the idea of a wolf for teaching the pups. Something that isn't active, like teaching them history and stuff. A scholar, like Oakley said.

Maybe a wolf that can treat certain illnesses without medicine, almost like a 'surgeon.' So for example you get a wound? This wolf can try to fix it up, or prevent it from worsening, by applying pressure and a bandage. This would be useful because it would allow your wolf to heal on its own and not expend resources. Maybe the wolf could also give a buff to prevent illnesses from developing if you hand them a medicine so they can make a sort of vaccine out of it?

Ooor maybe it makes more sense to make all of these a part of the herbalist role... or to make an NPC that does this.

They should have a role for Scavenging
Like where wolves can go out and scavenge for food.
Or an account (name can be changed) wolf who can collect SC and GC, because at the moment it is really hard to get GC

Some of the things the lead does can be easily given to pack members as it's own role instead.

For example, crafting. Instead of the lead doing that, pack members can become crafters or tailors.

I agree. One of the best things in the game is collecting/breeding beautiful wolves, but when your main roles are full, what do you do with them? Let them sit idly until they grow old and die?
Having more rroles would make the game more fun AND give you a reason for having mor wolves.
Also, it would be good to have roles that need different stat combos - eg:
Strength + smarts
Speed + wisdom ecc

There could be a doctor - (wisdom and smarts?) to cure and diagnose and cure illness
and the herbalist to forage (wisdom and speed?)
a fighter who could "help" the lead increasing his stats during encounters if he journeys with him (strength + smarts?)
some kind of "fun wolf" that could boost a random wolf's mood (going on to 2 or 3 as they gains expertise) (agility + smarts?)
A crafter, as is said above, who would be necessary to craft thee recipes but could also research new ones  (wisdom + agility)...

Not sure how it would work, but a patrol role would be cool, maybe 1-3 wolves in a party that you send out in your home biome. Different stats could lead to different encounters, maybe strength wolves have a higher chance of skirmishing with enemies, wisdom and smarts could find items, speed and agility could patrol quicker maybe? Not sure if this it too close to the scout role though.
