Surrogate Breeding Requests

Surrogate Breeding Requests

The Settings

Add a setting to select a single female in your pack as a surrogate, it works essentially the same as a stud, except the breeding male from other packs can send in a request to breed with that female. It wouldn't be as profitable or useful as just setting a stud, but it would help mitigate the issue of people getting their wolves "stolen" in a reverse breeding attempt.

The Mechanic

Once a female is set as a surrogate, users can request to breed their male to them, once the pups are weaned, the pups auto-transfer to the male's account, if the person does not have space for the pups they would disappear upon rollover just like they would when a wolf gives birth and there isn't enough space.

With this setup, it's not much different than when you breed your own female, the only difference is you won't have the pups when they're nursing, and hopefully a system like this would help with the issue of people losing their animals because the person they made the deal with was untrustworthy.

You would only be able to set one female at a time like the stud, they will have a breeding cooldown like normal and become available for a surrogate breeding once they go into heat. As said it won't be as profitable as studs will be, but it would be a useful feature to have if someone would like to use it.

I like the idea, but have some questions about the mechanics. How would nesting work? Who is responsible for nesting the female and providing the nesting material? I would assume the owner of the female but then what happens if the female isn't nested so pups are lost. Does the player who paid to breed to her get their money back? Additionally, what happens if the pups die while in the care of the mother? The player who owns the mother could potentially be bred to, and then let all the pups die either on purpose or on accident and the player who paid to breed would have spent all of their money in exchange for nothing.

@Sunspot Forest
Nesting material could be included in the breeding payment as an option perhaps?

Now that I think more into it, maybe surrogate pups are transferred over to the male's account immediately upon birth, they must be assigned to a pupsitter, that way the survival of the pups is completely on the user that paid for them, rather than someone else who could simply stop rolling over, or purposefully let the pups die

I assume you'd pay with a price fee, a nesting material, and then are assigned surrogate parents on birth? So, they get transferred to the account of the male's owner and a pair bond are selected to "adopt" the pups.

E.G. the menu could look like:

[PAIR BOND TO ADOPT THE PUPS] (dropdown)

Price:
[-] GC / [-] SC & 1x Nesting Material

[ Send Request ]

During this time the pair bond cannot be traded or sold
