Ha! This is cute and funny. I like it. In Lioden there's jewelry that can be crafted from gemstones, so it'd be cool to do that here as well. I like to hoard bones and feathers, as that's something I like irl. I'd love to hoard the gems as well. I think the gemstone encounters may be tied to month-long events, but that shouldn't be a problem.
Some flavor text ideas, some of which have options to choose from:
- You notice a small sparkle buried in the earth near your paws. You lean close to investigate. Does this spark joy? Yes, you take it with you.
- What's that brightly colored object hiding under a bush? It's a gemstone. This could be useful for something... You decide to stash it in your fur for safe keeping.
- Ouch! You kicked your toes on a hard object. Oh, it's a pebble of some sorts... It's got a lovely sheen to it. You snatch it quickly before anything nearby could spy it.
- You notice a squirrel up in the trees holding something that is glittery and catches your eye.
[Offer acorn] -> The squirrel gladly exchanges the gemstone it was playing with for an acorn. You got +1 [gem]!
[Bark] -> 50% chance Startled, the squirrel loses hold of the gem and it falls to the ground before your paws. You grab it before the rodent can climb down and fetch it back. You got +1 [gem]!
[Bark] ->50% chance You plan to give out a ferocious bark, but as you breathe in a small bug gets sucked into your mouth. The squirrel stares in amusement as you cough it out. You don't bother to try and scare it, as your presence is now known.
- Prairie / Grasslands exclusive encounter
You notice some male grouse squabbling over a small pebble.
[Investigate / Sniff around] 50% chance You find a grouse hen watching the two males fighting for the pebble. You take the chance and hunt the unawares hen. You got +1 grouse carcass!
[Investigate / Sniff around] 50% chance You find nothing of interest. When you return, the two grouse are nowhere to be seen, and the pebble has been taken.
[Rush them] -> 75% chance You charge at the grouse, and manage to snatch the sparkly pebble in their panicking. You got +1 [gem]!
[Rush them] -> 25% chance You jump at the grouse, but rather than fleeing they turn on you. Their talons are quite sharp and you get several scratches all along your face, particularly on your nose. You lost -2 HP!
- A friendly raven swoops by, dropping a shiny object at your feet. It looks like a gemstone. Wow, thanks buddy! You got +1 [gem]!
