I don't know if this is part of the event, but when I can exploring my wolf ran into a cougar with a growth? on it's tail. Is this an event thing with the cryptids? 		Skeleyon

Yep, it's part of the event. As far as I know, it's just a normal event-exclusive encounter. There are many encounters of animals acting weird or getting weird growths/mutations, and that's one of them.

If it unlocked the Ball-tailed Cougar on the Event page, that's what it was. But if it was this encounter:



That's just a normal encounter.
