Posted 2022-08-22 12:52:38 #821158 Has anyone else noticed a huge decrease in Lunar Essence drops since the Cryptid Event launched? Maybe I'm just having abyssal luck, but I've collected exactly 0 while exploring, which since the launch has been two times (starting at 100% energy), both in areas with active disasters and without. Meanwhile I've had enough assorted encounters to collect ~20 Cryptid Scales. Based on previous days (granted, I don't have prior months to compare to), I would have expected a small handful of Lunar Essence from each explore session. I think the event is awesome (cryptids are one of my favorite things and already influenced my naming theme), but I'm a bit of a newb and this is also my first Lunar Event, so I've been grinding to hit the maximum amount of Lunar Essence/Tears every day. Personally I haven't had a problem so far. (In fact, I just had 3-4 LE encounters in a row, which was weird RNG.) However, with the new stuff in all biomes, the likelihood of getting an LE encounter might seem to be lower. Technically it isn't any rarer, there's just more encounters competing for the same space. Particularly if you're exploring in a biome that has an active disaster, since those increase the chances of Cataclysm encounters.

Unfortunately that can be an issue when the event overlaps a monthly event. There's no real fix other than keep trying, afaik. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Thanks for the reply! That's exactly what I was hoping to hear - personal bad luck is far preferable to the alternative.

When I noticed the lack of LE while exploring an active disaster area during my first session, I deliberately picked a "calm" area the next time to try to minimize how many encounters were of the Cryptid variety. Still got plenty of CS and no LE, but since the logic seems sound overall I'll just keep trying that method until the Lunar Event is over.

I just really want to buy some of the Lunar shinies I've been jonesing for since I first joined a month ago, haha.

It felt like that yesterday for me, but today it was super quick. Got it all in like 2 day cycles.

It may just be the sheer amount of encounters in the game right now, it will likely get back to normal levels after the event im assuming
