Honestly, your thoughts on what you look for in a stud and what makes you pause are super helpful! I appreciate it a lot!

I don't think I'm much help, but I would personally go with the second wolf, they're so pretty :D!!
I also love how the first wolf looks as well.

I don't normally go for bases or markings, so sorry I'm not really helpful in that department ^^'

Your input is still very helpful, thank you! Everyone has different reasons for breeding their wolves :) I also like to breed for looks!

I also must admit #2 is very stunning. I am biased as I enjoy cats so cougar, points and such make me go

Either way, I wish you success and happiness with whichever stud candidate you choose :)

So definitely lots of things matter, like VLF acceptance and pricing, but thought I'd do some market for you. I'm doing this based on Active Rolled over studs today, with 200 SC / 1 GC max pricing since that's probably the price range for G3 / G4 studs :)

Argent - 3 Studs
-1 was Gen 4, 1 was Gen 5, 1 was Gen 16
-In total all these studs sold only 5 slots so far this week
-All three studs had 10 markings
-One of these only accepted 30%+ Fertility
So not a bad option. You compete well with these studs generation-wise, though Argent doesn't seem insanely popular. Still if you take VLF ladies, that just gives you 2 other studs to compete with.

Seal - 7 Studs
-2 Were 1st Gen /NBW, 1 was 2nd Gen, 1 was 5th gen, the rest were 8+
-In total all these studs only sold 4 slots so far this week
-One stud had 10 markings (8th gen) and one stud had 9 markings (2nd gen)
-Two studs had minimum fertility requirements: 10% and 30%
This is probably the worst option. As there are many studs, 2 NBW studs (people will more often pick lower gen studs at the same price), and not many breedings happening.

Chert (Searched for Cougar Marking) -
SO there are currently no lower-priced options for Black Cougar. These are the currents:
-G2 Bronze 2 GC / 800 SC Min 10% Fert
-G4 Badger 5 GC / 1500 SC Min 3% Fert
-NBW Realgar 5 GC / 1500 SC
-NBW Badger Glass Eye 5 GC / 1500 SC
This pup has a real demand as shown in your thread, and there is a market for a lower priced Cougar stud. I think if you priced at 1 GC / 350 SC, you could sell a lot. Of course, it would be a bit more difficult to show up in search. You would have to advertise a bit on forums and maybe discord. Also maybe try to fill in his other markings if possible. But I think he's your best chance

Thank you!! I adore the Cougar marking so much, my hope is to help spread the mark around if I choose them as my stud!

Thank you for all this information and all the work you put into it! It was super helpful to read!
And the pricing you suggested definitely seems like a fair price if I were to set my chert cougar as my stud.

Atticus has a great potential to prolong chaser lineage. If you can train this wolf very well, this option is the best.

If not, Leif is a good alternative - muted tier III bases are quite rare and can be get pups with any base group. Also, clover marking hasn't been added to the circulation for over 7 months so a lot of players may need a good refresh of this.

I wouldn't advise against picking Spade - choosing tier II between tier III wolves is a poor decision. It's neither good in stats nor look rarity, and also contains most popular stud in the lineage, which is another discouraging reason for potential breeders.
