Help me choose my breeding wolf! +questions

Help me choose my breeding wolf! +questions
Posted 2020-10-23 09:50:34 (edited)

Here are my current options - let me know what you think!  I know very little about the breeding/wolf market and have a lot of questions.

I'm trying to figure out how valuable different markings are - I underlined all the ones that I think are rare, but please correct me if I'm wrong, or tell me more about what to look for!

1) ashen with 5 markings: tuff back patch, dark brown smoke, sepia unders, black shaded, doubloon cape. Stats are only 191, sadly. Already an adult! (although I won't be breeding any females except NBWs for a few weeks - are NBWs even worth breeding?)

2) dust with 7 markings: black back stripe, honey shaded, black patchy unders, honey dilution, white merle, brown smoke, white inverted agouti. (Most of the markings are at high opacity, and the merle is at 100% - does that matter for inherited markings?)  Stats are 202, nothing great either. Grows up in 10 days (plenty of time for all good females, since all my non-NBW females are still puppies/adolescents)

3) melchior (II, 0.08%) with 7 markings: black head stripe, black mantle, white urajiro, brown carnage, brown belly stripe, white trim, brown cheek fluff. Stats are 234 - a little better but probably still not great. Grows up in 17 days (I think that's in time to breed with all my good females once they grow up? After a female grows up, is it another 8 days until heat?)

4) something else? Should I save up for a different male entirely, or modify one of those? Which one of these options is more worth it? A base-changer costs 5 GC, so it seems like it might be better to use that 5 GC to buy a better male instead of customizing?  (Or am I wildly off on how much good breeding males cost?)  I'm new and usually halfway broke, I'm not going to be able to afford any of those fancy 25GC males any time soon. Or should I just not breed at all for a few weeks until I can afford a really fancy male? What do people who know the market better think?

Also, whichever males I don't pick, would it be worth the 3GC to turn them into females so I can breed them? Or can I get better females for 3GC? I haven't done any breedings except my starter ones, so I don't know how worth it it is to breed and sell puppies - it's definitely fun enough that I'll want to breed some, but I don't know if I should maximize the number of breeding females. What are your experiences?

Any tips/advice you can give me about the wolf/breeding/stud market would be great!

I'll be honest, I don't know anything about wolf breeding either. I hope someone can explain this to both of us.

for a studding tip,or advice u can only pick 1 breeding male and can only change him once a month and the one who was the last stud can never breed again, well thats what i was told so Pick wisely!

number 3! I'm biased bcos I love melichor base, but he'll have more shots to pass on tier II bases, which if you don't want you can sell for more than tier I!

#2 has popular marks, but #3 is so much more esthetically pleasing. My vote is for #3, plus he's Tier II.

Oooh- I love number 3 <3 mostly because of the base and how well his markings compliment it, those marks would look good passed onto any puppies, too! In my opinion, number 2 has some great markings as well!! Overall, I would pick 3, just because I feel it could be more profitable having a BO base, you’d have more higher tiered pups and can always add marks to stud/offspring <3

Number 3 for me. I will always value a tier II base and higher stats over special markings, personally. Plus I think he's simply more handsome !

Number 3. It has the best stats and it's a II tier base. It has pretty markings too :) . I definitely wouldn't choose number 1.

I vote for three because he's handsome and has a tier II coat.
