Keeping the Appearance of Lead Wolves

Keeping the Appearance of Lead Wolves

I know there's another topic for the same idea, but it's locked, it's 3:30 AM for me, I can't sleep, and I wanted to comment on this.

Before I get criticized for my thoughts, I have read through the other topic and FULLY understand the effect that a feature like this would have on the WD market.

This game is far more challenging than LD, which I do (to an extent) appreciate. I was just recently able to buy a new base applicator after a long time of exploring and patience, and I'm quite proud of myself for doing so. I wanted to use said applicator on my lead wolf, but realized that it will be a waste because I can't keep her looks.

On LD, I spent about a year working hard on my stud, and I'm very happy with his looks, as well as very fortunate that I can keep his looks between all my heirs for as long as I want to. I'm not very much of a lineage breeder there, so low/high gens and cleanliness aren't my biggest priorities. This took me a very long time, because I built up funds by earning everything I had and trading up. As a student who plans on attending vet school AFTER undergrad, I have to be smart with my money, and using it to buy SC and GC on a virtual wolf game is not what I need to be doing. Similarly, I don't have the time to be consistently playing the game to work my way up, as I have more important things to do. Many people on here don't mind spending their money on game currency over and over to buy products and customize each new lead wolf. Many others, however, are either unable, or would just choose not, to do the same. I don't want to put any effort into my current lead wolf, because I know it will be destroyed once it's time for her to retire.

The option to keep the looks of your lead wolf would be entirely optional, just like it is on LD. Although it may currently be unethical for the market, looking into the future, it's very possible that this game could adopt LD culture by other means anyway. While this may devalue certain aspects of the wolves produced in the game, it's generally just a bit more fair to the people who want to work hard, and then get to keep what they worked hard for.
