Community Update #37

Posted 2022-04-01 19:23:08
I'm also confused why people are being so dramatic about this update to the sales chat. I think it's really great - it decreases the amount of moderation time and energy needed for one chat, and it gives nervous people like me peace of mind that we're not accidentally posting too much. If you have two things to advertise just.... wait ten minutes? It's not that long, and the site isn't busy enough for it to make a difference, imo. Or make a forum post to advertise everything and alter your sales pitch accordingly, like they recommend!
Love the update to the giveaways chat, too! I think that's a great solution! c:

also it took me several minutes to realize the uwu was an april fools thing and not just everyone being silly lmao

yesss I love the uwu chat, especially people entering chat at various times of the day and seeing their posts uwu-fied and being horrified

actually my main issue with the update is that the uwu speak wasn't implemented site-wide (I want it on the forums!!) and also that it's going away after today :p

Kind of half and half on this update. I'm not an intense sales person, so I'm not going to speak much on the sales portion, more of the giveaway portion. I think the claim idea is...alright at best. It seems like a good idea, just not good application. Some people post giveaway's that are like "10th claim gets-" or "5th claim gets", and it's just increasingly annoying and time consuming to have to CONSTANTLY refresh my page, and then when I go to claim at what I assume is the right time...there have been like 2-3 more claims.

Another thing! It's also super inconvenient for people posting giveaways. I'd say there are about 2-3 giveaway chats every 5-10 minutes, so if a player logs off and comes back on later, they would have to scroll through quite a few messages just to find their giveaway message (which no one likes doing)  to see who claimed it. Again, I just think this specific way of changing up giveaway chat was just...mediocre.

I personally feel like there would have been better or smoother ways about claiming giveaways without clogging the chats or pms...and this is not it.

*Note- Not trying to me dramatic, just personal opinion of someone who uses giveaway chat a lot :) Have a great day!

The 10 minute this is total BS.

Can't stand this "April Fools" translation of chat messages into supposedly cutesy internet baby talk/stuttering with random emojis inserted. Is there a way to turn it off?

@AdmYrrek: You can only disable it for your own messages via the "Disable April Fools" button on your profile page.  The filter stops at midnight, thankfully!

As @MoeGo said, having to come back to scroll through and check to see who's claimed your giveaway is majorly inconvenient. I only go there to give away food or pups, and expect people to PM me because I don't hang out in that chat often. The claim idea is great, but the execution of NEEDING to go back and physically find your message again to be able to dish out the prizes is ridiculous.

Can we possibly have a unclaim button? cause of course my dumb butt clicked one by accident (lucky it was a PM post and to multiple wolves so it was pretty nul and void)  and now can't undue it.
I'm using my phone to play since I rarely use a computer so it's quite easy for my big thumbs to click on the wrong buttons. Lol
