Single Account Rule

Posted 2020-10-28 11:57:02

Here’s my take;

I really enjoy the one account limitation.

On lioden, if you don’t have two accounts, you can’t get double the event items like everyone else. A lot of those events have reward shops that you can only have access to one at a time, so with two accounts you could effectively get the best of both worlds. It feels excessive and makes having to choose a reward shop pretty pointless if you can just get access to the other on another account.

Now, obviously we don’t have events here on wolvden yet and can’t say for sure how they will work, or if they will work similarly to Lioden events.  I just really enjoy that having one account sort of keeps everyone on a level playing field, and there’s no pressure to make another just to “keep up”. Things just feel so much more balanced here on wolvden, in terms of that stuff.

Maybe, someday, we can have multiple packs per account? Just a side thought. I don't mind having one account. Probably wouldn't make two if it was an option.

Edit: just read the post above mine and I totally would make two accounts for extra loot.

I completely agree with Korvius that allowing two accounts creates a disbalance in the economy and between players. Users with lots of free time and money will already get ahead of everyone even with just one account, but with 2 they'll become mini-monopolies inside WD. And sure, It's nice to be able to choose your playstyle like that, but this logic can be applied to other things too. Why do all exploring by yourself, let's just make botting legal and make a bot explore for you. People who like exploring can still do it on their own, right? Sure, but it still creates a disbalance and pressure to "keep up", as was said before me.

Agreed with all the arguments for single accounts, especially those around moderation difficulties and letting players 'freeze' things. I'm generally all for letting games suit different playstyles but I feel letting people bypass the rollover mechanic is too large an allowance; a player who really wants that might want to seek a petsite that doesn't have death/rotting mechanics in the first place. Seconding what @hydde said about botting too.

Another way to word the pressure to keep up is that if the options to freeze things and/or have double loot are there, it makes not doing those things feel like a self-imposed challenge instead of how the game was intended to be played. Having two accounts would become the default playstyle for anyone getting more invested in the game, not just players without much time that need a boost, and how do the devs design things with that in mind without penalising people who don't play that way?

I can understand being disappointed when lioden allowed two accounts, though! I just really prefer single accounts myself.

I think I'm late, but isn't the two accounts thingy one of the things  that makes lioden special? Lioden's economy has no problem but I'm a newbie so I may be wrong. If two accounts is not allowed why is lioden allowing it? And is it a mandatory rule for every RPG? Is there a penalty for allowing one user to own more than one account? Or is there a terrible history behind this?

Not everyone freezes their accounts. I always log in to both of my ld accounts and even that it's still the same as when I had only one. People who have friends and family playing also have advantage over others because whether there's a second account or not they still get some kind of boost. It's still the same if you can buy gc or gb with real money; even though it's to support the game, it's still a disadvantage to those who can't afford

@Ohemaa

Yes, Lioden's the odd one in that it lets you have two accounts. Especially odd in that it lets you gain resources from both accounts to funnel into one - the only other similar site I've played that lets you have more than one account disallows doing anything other than store things on your other accounts.

On Wolvden, they probably decided that, despite allowing players to have two accounts on Lioden, they'd stick to one here. The game in general is more difficult, and they likely don't want you able to bypass the intended difficulty, like you would if you could store excess SC to continue getting it from Explore or get twice as many Lunar Tears.

Personally I think second accounts would be better, I wanna restart the game somehow and my only luck with that would be a second acc and use this acc as a freezing/storage acc I think its kinda dumb we get 2 accounts on LD but one acc on WD

Who knows? Maybe one day it will be allowed. I don't think lioden allowed two accounts from the start. Maybe the admins have discussed this before. The only thing to do is to hope they change their minds
