Single Account Rule

Posted 2020-10-22 14:34:52

Not every game is for every person.
There are dozens of active pet sims at any given time and choosing which to get invested in is a personal thing. If you prefer the way Lioden does things, why not just play Lioden? It's still there, well established, still supported, and while it's clear the team learned from it in making Wolvden, Lioden is well made (even though it's not my thing.)

I'm a big supporter of one account because it's more fair (not everyone has the time to play two accounts, people who do have even more of an advantage than they already would with more time,) more balanced (no storage/as a freezer, no funneling items to a main, more predictable 'income' per person when setting expenses, fewer critters being born every day, decreases economic inflation,) and easier to moderate (easier to track of who is who.)

Most telling to me however is the developers looked to the experience they gained while making and supporting Lioden for 7-8 years (?) and made an informed decision about how many accounts they wanted Wolvden to have.

Second account for sure allows more freedom and you can try having two playstyles etc, I do admit that those are plus sides. I did that on LD.

But I do feel like WD puts focus on survival more than LD does, which is why pups die easier and we have diseases too. And allowing a second account would remove all the challenge there is when rather easily you can have 30hunts (or more) every day and forage/make meds twice as much and get twice as much SC from the raccoon as well. So for WD it just wouldn't work at all. WD isn't meant to be a game where you can manage a large pack without having to do some work to achieve that.

If it was, there would be a lot of free handouts and getting new territory slots would be easy and dirt cheap.

@ Owlbear:

The irony is that I would rather play a wolf game than a lion game.  I like the art on Wolvden more and there are other ways the game is superior, probably because, as you mentioned, the developers have learned from their experience running Lioden.  I do not think it is unreasonable to be disappointed when an anticipated game like Wolvden has more rigid restrictions than Lioden, especially if it significantly affects how the game is played.  Maybe I will get used to it, maybe I won't.

@ Kahvinporo:

Sure, there are valid reasons.

Yea I hate being stuck to one account personally

I feel like I'll never do any kind of breeding projects here on wolvden cause I can't put them on hold, many a project has gotten to frustrating for me on lioden where i've had to just put it to the side for a while and thankfully use my other account to still enjoy the game

If I remember correctly Lioden used to be one accounts as well and I agree with others here, I like only one account. Now on Lioden I used my side to freeze assets a LOT and to take advantage of events and profitable things like that, but, again like someone else said, WD is more survival based than Lioden and I hope they stick to a single accounts.

I think its nice to have just one account for similar reasons as those already stated. Wolvden is supposed to be more of a challenge than lioden, it's more survival based. I think it would be pretty difficult to manage two accounts and all of the responsibilities this game requires. I don't see the devs changing this feature but there are some other wolf breeding sims that do allow multiple accounts if those are of any interest to you.

Everyone has already explained my own reasons why, so I won't repeat them in detail. I never liked the two account system on LD - it seemed too easy to abuse and complicated things far too much. Plus two accounts could mean disrupting the playing field against those who either didn't have the time to play with a second account or plain didn't want to. Plus all the other stuff that was already mentioned.

Was VERY happy when I saw that WD wasn't following down that route, that's all I gotta say.

My big issue with the two account system was that the accounts are never linked so if someone starts harassing you with one account and you block them, you basically have to wait until they harass you with the second one all over again to block it. Because unless they friended themselves and said "this is my secondary" you just can't tell which is theirs. It gives people a roundabout way to be dicks and makes it much harder to get away from abusive individuals. It almost renders the block button ineffective. At least, that was my experience and one of the reasons I left Lioden. I just don't think the pros outweigh the cons on this one.

At the end of the day.. Lioden is Lioden and this is Wolvden. It's not meant to be the same as Lioden. They're designed differently. Personally I don't find Lioden a challenge whatsoever, I have 2 accounts, large amount of SB + GB, never low on food etc, it just feels super chilled and easy thanks to having 2 accounts. And that's cool, like, to have the option to play like that.. but I feel like on here this game is so new that we should all be in it together. It's not fair to have half the people on the game scrimping and scraping at getting by (and enjoying the challenge) then having the other half throwing resources around, selling things in excess for low prices, etc. Of course not everybody would do this but once some people start doing it, it'll have an effect on everyone else. I really like the double account side of Lioden but I see no reason for it to have to be included on a brand new game. Plus, at this point, it means we're all learning at the same sort of pace.

TLDR I like having 2 accounts on Lioden which makes it feel easy and not at all a challenge, and I like having one account on here which I struggle with.

Looking at it from a different perspective, I like the one account rule to limit the frequency of cheating. If you have a ton of people in one household/area that have 2 accounts, it can get a bit tricky to tell what belongs to who, which I imagine is a nightmare for the moderators and staff who are trying to keep the game fair. Also prevents uses from block evasion.

Additionally I think it helps limit inflation as well. Big time players who can spend a lot of money and time on this game don't have a second account to funnel things into for 'freezing'. This gives everyone a decent playing field. Of course said players who have time and money will still have a bit of a leg over the other players, but at least they won't jump so far ahead and dominate the market with one active account and one storage account.

Also I agree with the point that this is an individual game. Wolvden shouldn't be treated as "Lioden but with Wolves" it should be treated as it's own game.
