Adjusting Female Heat Countdown

Adjusting Female Heat Countdown
Posted 2022-02-20 20:24:15 (edited)
I had a female wolf, Tohru 🍙, that according to Wolvden yesterday had two days of heat left. She turned 7 years and 2.5 months today and is no longer in heat.

If this is the set age for female wolves to no longer be able to breed, may I suggest that the heat counter reflects that (e.g.: for Tohru 🍙 it would've said 1 day of heat left yesterday)?

Another player and I had planned to breed our wolves today thinking my wolf had one more day of heat, but now we are unable to, leaving me quite disappointed as I wanted her to have one more litter before she passed...

Making the heat counter match up with the wolf's age, and whether she would have another heat by the time cooldown is over, especially when approaching the age of no longer being able to breed, would be a beneficial feature.

Thanks!

Yeah.. the same thing happened to one of my beloved wolves. It was frustrating, annoying for that to happen..

Yes! This hasn't happened to me yet, but I did have an elderly female on cool down even though she was past being able to have pups once. It was rather annoying to have that constant reminder of a heat cycle that was never going to happen over her portrait.

I think it should also say so in the breeding cooldown if she would come into heat after 7y2m, that this wolf will be too old to breed after her last litter. Support either way!

Support. As far as I can remember, there's no in-game way to know that 7y2m is the last day of fertility; you have to find out by talking to other players or reading player-written guides, and not everyone does that. Also, even for people who do know, it's easy to see "in heat (4 rollovers)" on an elderly wolf and forget it's not actually that.

Support. One should be able to trust that when the game gives you a number, it's accurate.

Support!

Heats for older wolves make me nervous for this exact reason. It's incredibly misleading. We should be able to look at the Heat Cycle for a wolf and be able to tell when it's going to happen and end, with surety that what it tells us is accurate. If old age will cut a heat cycle short or the cooldown is too long to have another heat, we should be able to actually see that instead of accidentally stumbling upon it when it's too late.
