Beholder of Decay

Chapter one: Of Beastiel creatures

A beast lurks within these woods, it hunts, stalks, and kills without mercy, among the decay of their fallen pray has earned it the name of Decay itself, leaving the dead to rot among the forest's underbrush. Sorin knew the scent well and for decades wanted to know the source of these brutal deaths, even as a hunter with wolf-blood coursing through his veins, he knew that there must be a reason to kill, to hunt, to stalk. He sniffed the area of Decay's last pray, it was human, she was young and barely recognizable as anything other than a pool of blood and entrails. Sorin scratched his scruffy-aged face with a scowl as his tender brown eyes continued to scan the area. Just like the others, it appeared to be a senseless death, so he turned what's left of the body to discover that like the others there were no bite or claw marks, but rather appeared to have been brutally torn to shreds by shear force, even Sorin with his stocky build is unable to commit such a feat, to kill another with such power. He leaned closer to the corpse and inhaled deeply, Only the girl's scent, she died recently yet Decay must be gone by now.... he thought to himself while slowly standing up, his old bones made popping sounds, a reminder that he was no longer young despite what his blood claims. A sweet breeze blew through the lush thickets, soothing his beastly soul, it brought various scents of man and animal alike, Sorin stretched out his broad limbs embracing the newfound scents, he took off the deer pelt that wrapped around his broad chest and peered down at his torn pants. Seems pointless wearing anything if I keep tearing through everything I own he glanced at the body, with her scent now registered he started to walk through the thick underbrushes, his deer pelt in hand and moved swiftly throughout the woods. Birds chirped and deer gazed while the bears sat and watched their cubs, their thick brown pelts a sigh to behold. He walked alongside a riverbank for some time before hearing a clamor of voices, many sounding of older males followed by children's laughter, Sorin followed the voices, their scents somewhat similar to the girl whose been murdered. He continued to walk in the direction of the voices until he encounter a small cabin hidden among bushes and trees, there was a small campfire located to the side of the cabin and a young man chasing toddlers around, his face spoke of fresh youth, and smelled of sweat. Near the campfire, there were two older males and females conversing among themselves until a dirty blond female with sharp eyes saw Sorin, her gaze grew dark and the conversation ended.
"Who are you?' Her voice spoke of pure bitterness, the young male and toddlers stood where they were, staring at Sorin.
"Name doesn't matter...I found a body not far from here, female"  Sorin crossed his arms, still holding the deer pelt, and immediately everyone's but Sorin's face dropped.
"L-Lily?" One of the toddlers stuttered, his rosy face grew sullen, and the young man gently picked up the toddler.
"We don't know if it's her, it's ok" His voice was soothing and immediately the toddler calmed, he gently placed him down and looked at Sorin. his face grew stern.
"Show me"  Sorin tilted his head slightly, he found this human to be odd and seemed to have hidden daggers, he looked at the others who continued to stare, then back at the young man.
"Fine, but if you die the blood isn't on my hands" Sorin grumbled and walked back where he came, he looked over his shoulder and was surprised to discover that the unnamed stranger was following swiftly behind. He was silent, and his gaze shifted from an energetic young man to a cold killer and Sorin respected this.
"Got a name?" Sorin grunted
"Depends, you got one?" The stranger hissed, Sorin couldn't help but smirk, then reverted to his set expression
"Sorin"
"Murk"
*Sorin laughed a bit at his companion's name and was met with an icy glare, Murk was right in front of him*
"Got something to say?"
*Murk spat as Sorin shoved him to the side*
"Come on, it'll be nightfall soon, the body is this way"

Chapter Two: Laying the dead to rest

Flys circled around the corpse as various other insects lay their eggs among the flesh, Murk examined the body carefully as Sorin watched from a distance, the smell was repulsive and for him, it was amplified. He stood there with a sour expression, How can this human take the stench? Or am I so old that I can no longer sustain certain odors? Sorin thought to himself as Murk turned to face him.
"It's her"  His voice cracked a little and his eyes grew tense.
"How can you tell? It's barely a body at this point" Sorin remarked while gesturing to the corpse, or rather a pile of flesh and bones.
"Don't question me" Murk's eyes narrowed and his voice appeared deeper, he clutched his fists and grinded his teeth as though Sorin had just qeustioned his manhood.
"Fine, I won't" Sorin grunted with a glare
