• Hewwo, glass-eyed pup sold and it looks like she’s gonna be a keeper >:O Nice!!
• Meanwhile Moulin grows up tomorrow and so it is Time to Yeet… Leveret, I think, right? Hold on lemme check the pupsitting configurations—
• Oh hey, new page new season. Love it when stuff lines up 👌
• Alright, yeah, Leveret was inexplicably watching glaucous’ pups but they’re at a natural 100% survival rate now; Esker’s taken over just to be safe. But wow I really don’t want to “kill” her early, gdi.
• I mean, she’s only got about a couple months left unless she miraculously hangs on longer, but you think anyone might be interested in a pupsitter/chaser? interested enough to buy before rollover?…Only one way to find out !!
• —Eh you know what okay nah, it’s only 100SC. After everything I put her through it’s only fair I let her take a dang rest, ig. We are ignoring that that sounds like Peak Villain rhetoric when the “rest” is a nicer way of saying “retire” aka “kill” in context :D
• …Goddammit, I never added the death info to Idril and Talak’s bios, but at least the dynasty means everything’s auto-recorded anyway. But yeah on that note, Leveret’s dead, and I have no clue what happened to her in-lore and might not even keep her in the dynasty for aforementioned lore reasons, but yeah. RIP

• Speaking of pups and space, it’s dawned on me I don’t actually need to keep Cobwebs because he’s not a significant improvement over Esker (both have white shaded with ~40%). But also… also… Looks Neat. Maybe I will just wait and see how space looks when he grows up, because I’m tempted to bring him to the Jackdaws/lore squad just to boost the monochrome aesthetics.
• Side note, it would actually be hilarious if it ends up being like… monochromes Diorite and Andesite end up leading a semi-natural pack with no strong preference either way, and then Liesl the brown leads monochrome hell minus Moulin. It would go that way.

• On a totally unrelated note, while I’m still mostly Attached to the wolves I got and don’t plan on killing anyone else off early any time soon (god I did Leveret’s character dirty), for the record: Sources vary for the average wild wolf lifespan, from 5–10 years, 6–8, and 4–8. Huh, guess Wolvden strikes a happy medium by imposing death rolls at 7y6m. Don’t know if I’ll ever Do Anything with this information but it just felt noteworthy!

• Alright, doing some site housekeeping and found this stunning photo of a taiga aspen forest; just gonna stick that on the pack info page because camouflage my arse.

• Updating the timeline page and huh, it kinda looks like glaucous had a mini character arc this past year?? like—(as previously mentioned) Between Hallow and Lichen being accepted (eventually) despite the pack having very legitimate reasons to distrust/shun both, and the subsequent realization that they were all being kinda jerky treating Glaucous as an outcast when she’s just been scoutin and vibin, she actually finally stops scouting and joins the second hunting party. By the end of that season she’s expecting pups again, and they’re not even Diorite’s. And they’re both still very much alive and enjoying a 100% survival rate, and will proooobably stay because the pack’s gonna need a couple new finishers soonish, So.
• I mean, again, I’m basically just skimming over the whole part where the pups are biologically Glaucous’s, kinda like how it doesn’t make any got damn sense for Diorite and Andesite to have had a litter so soon into the pack’s founding. And blablabla implications, yadda yadda don’t want to imply Parenthood Is Pinnacle Actually, but between the aforementioned stuff and Glaucous keeping a totally-not-affectionate eye on Lichen before they both joined the second hunting squad, it’s less about “lol she did the do again” and more… I mean, it was very much Noticeable that she didn’t give a rat’s tail about the first litter. And then she goes and brings in two orphans, who the whole pack (but especially her, gameplay roles be damned) chips in to help watch. TL;DR Sign of Character Development

• Alright fine god, finally updating the wolf page (albeit with hasty shitposty notes to keep the perfectionism at bay) and you know what else I completely missed as a character development opportunity? Lichen’s distemper. Micah’s feelings about her have been in limbo since she first returned but considering it was Baby’s First Betrayal, even if she did help the pack settle down and reconnect him with the herb trade thing, he still has the right to be fucked up about it. But his job as an herbalist has to come first, and hell maybe the recovery period (which would obviously not be like, one (1) day in-lore) was a chance for them to ~talk~. Heck knows they need it.

• Somehow managed to include the giant fuckign wolf page additions/overhaul with the “minor tweaks” commit, amazing. But anyway ayyy, site’s up-to-date now more or less (Setting is the only page with clutter from both docs still on it, I think); at this point maybe I’ll just stick with having a bunch of Notes on the wolf pages under a tl;dr character overview, and only flesh out the entire thing in the obligatory obituary-esque bio. Because LBR I’m not gonna keep up with entire sections on personality/history, both of which are constantly in flux (if not all for the same wolf at the same time), with every single living wolf. It just ain’t feasible, at least not with the current member count and my limited time.
• …Also oh god I haven’t backed up this thread since the end of page 5 😬 Did that while I was at it, this page/post not included. And with that I will go spend the rest of my evening on Things That Need Doing because you heckin bet none of it got done in the wake of wolf hell!!!

• -updates profile slightly instead- OK it has dawned on me that there is actually no point in stacking shaded because 8 of the 10 ideal markings are white. I guess my thought was like, if I stack it then I have better chances of passing it down in any slot, without needing to have a mate with the same marking?? Every day the machinations of my mind are an enigma.
• Honestly I just think it’d be kinda hilarious to stack shaded for the bragging rights now. Like those old studs with quad merle, but for white shaded. Who needs albinism, right??

• -lies awake thinking about Woofs- Okay but why Lichen?? Like, why would Glaucous stick to this rando? I was gonna say the nervous demeanor can’t be it because she didn’t quiiite attach to Wickfen the same way, but also oh right who led him to the pack. Does glaucous is soft spot?? for the timid ones specifically???
• Oh, don’t tell me she was like that as a teeny tiny pup herself and the “no emotions only Stoic” thing is a result of months of building up Walls. I mean, come on, that’s too easy. Also she can just Naturally be like that, it is her token assigned personality trait :V
• Still. It’s a trend—a weak one, but existent nonetheless. Mostly I just find it odd that Glaucous would warm up to Lichen of all wolves, enough to coincide with her being less distant from the pack as a whole, when she has every reason not to trust the coniferous-born exile. Maybe it’s more projection in the “vague sense you’re not super welcome/understood here” sense? and it didn’t apply to Hallow because he A) doesn’t let it show that that ever bothered him, and B) didn’t incur a whole Scene when he showed up & joined the pack either?? Haha ouch but like, it Works, and I like that better than “glaucous was just a sad timid pup too :(“ because that’s nice and all but a lil overused for my taste. #LetHerBeAloof
• Husk just drops by Micah’s den one day after the distemper bout like “hey quick q, what the hell is Lichen’s secret, surely now that you two bonded again as well you know what Lichen has that I don’t [in the ‘getting glaucous to open up’ department]??” and he’s like “heck if I know but maybe that is the wrong approach.”
• I could’ve used Andesite/any wolf for that example but oh yeah, speaking of Husk, now that Carcass is on Hawk’s Eyes, presumably those two have been ~bonding~ too. Poor Carcass could use character exploration of his own, especially since it’s been quite long enough for his origin story to fade into the background compared to All The Bullshit the Jackdaws have had going on. Plus there’s the whole “they will breed eventually because I want to carry on the Sentimental lineage and also have no impulse control and poor planning” thing, but idk if they’ll even hit 20 by 6 years so there’s no rush for that. Anyway!

• WELP holy shit, Zephyr caught pox over rollover. For something with symptoms like “lesions” and “skin imflammation” I expected it to be visible, dang. In any case, insta-cured as usual; we do not need that spreading with so many pups around.
• Aside from that, Moulin grew up! He’s not exaaactly a longtime Trusted Member of the Pack, but the party needs another chaser so he’s now joined Hawk’s Eyes.

• Ayyy, second party caught another medium carcass (mountain goat)! God, there’s a 300-stat gap between Carcass and Andesite; I’m gonna miss finding medium trails when she kicks the bucket.

Day 110 2021/02/07

• Super uneventful day, but snagged a Cougar Tail from a lvl15 cougar in the taiga >:O Been battling a tad more frequently since Diorite hit >85% a few days ago; at the time of writing he’s at 99%. Here’s hoping I remember to get that last little percent out of the way tonight, before the quest tomorrow, because Liesl’s leveling implies the extra EXP carries over for scouts but with the lead I want every crumb of guaranteed EXP I can get…!
• Obviously this is the kind of event that can have Significant Character Ramifications (cougar, hello) in lore, too; maybe Diorite and squad didn’t get back until now? But I am Tired™ so cool new development ready to go whenever I guess.

• I return for the last round tonight to Drove getting an infection (insta-cured)—and being really lucky with hummingbirds for once! Diorite hit level 17!! >:D 3… to go….
• —OI, this is a callout for Nelthyen and the Fierce Grace Pack Tracker. You thought you could get away with giving this thread a shoutout, while downplaying the coolness of your own?! I mean maybe you did a little because I didn’t notice until today whoops but FOOLE. The Fierce Grace thread was one of the first, if not the first, daily pack tracking thread I saw ‘round here, and even though I didn’t commit to reading it right away, it has been a heck of a ride and such slander shall not go unnoted.

• I am also absolutely not going to have the slots for them unless I kill someone early. Three someones, actually, since Jyn grows up a month/2 days after. Oh no, the consequences of my actions....
• Theoretically I could ask someone to hold on to some woofs for me, most likely the breeding project trio (Esker, Drukqs, and Cycles) while I give Drove and Hallow another few days to live, but that could potentially go for much longer than waiting for them to hit 7y6m and I don’t wanna saddle anyone else with ‘em that long 🤔 —Unless,
• On that note, We Are Not Keeping Cobwebs. Ah well, TI anyway; I’ll add him to the sales post later.

• Thank fuck I didn’t breed Andesite tbh… although I have no idea what kind of stat spread her pups will have, with Diorite or a stud, because her stats are WIS>AGI>SMA>STR>>SPE and that makes for a weird and not-particularly-role-helpful mixed bag. Also both my stalkers (her and Carcass) are gonna be around for a while yet; could keep one as an Andesite replacement, being mindful they will grow up before she dies depending how long I delay the breeding, but Carcass has got at least a year from there and I’ll be breeding him and Husk too for more what-the-fuck-are-these-stats pups. Hmm.
• I think my best game plan with Andesite, then (and smh @not thinking of this before her heat ended but ah well), is to breed with the expectation I’m selling all the pups. It probably won’t be with Diorite then for the best chance at cool markings, F, but they got Husk. BUT y’all know how me and planning goes (it doesn’t), so we’ll see.
• Alternatively: with the expectation that, by the time Andesite’s pups grow up, I can sell glaucous’ duo :V They’d have proficiency by then so Maybe, but it would suck to have to chase them. Worse comes to worse there’d have to be interest in a giveaway.

• Cycles’ pups weaned! And Hallow got an open wound from an overnight hunt, incredible. These facts are not related but it’s mildly amusing to pretend they somehow are.
• Today’s mood is looking at glaucous’ pups again and being like “well shit son you’re still both really plain.” The more I think about it the more I’m like “yeah they can go actually.” AUGH. (Not to mention that, at this point, by the time $hypotheticalKeeperAndesitePups are grown, some of the older wolves are definitely gonna be dead and thus I Have Space.)
• Pfah, so much for keeping glaucous’ bloodline going, but it was never in-character anyway. Besides, she brought Wickfen in and he and Zephyr will probably breed eventually too, so it’s like… indirect legacy. Or something. Idk man I’m just preeeetty sure whoever Andesite and a full-mark high-stat stud pop out are gonna be both more visually interesting and higher-stat, so…!
• The pups still tick off the Character Development Signifier box even if they don’t stick around, anyway :V They were brought in, welcomed for a while, given options… but ultimately nah bye. Up on the trading center they go!
• If I end up not keeping any Andesite pups this miiight bite, but ya know what there’s always NBWs and the TC.

• Also in other news, Esker and (as of tomorrow) Drukqs are doing a whole lotta nothing, but since they’re for A Breeding Project it’ll be good to keep their pupsitting proficiencies up. Gotta buy some fodder pups later but for now I need to go be a productive human being.

• Update: I Have Not Bought Fodder, because obviously 10SC is outrageously expensive (and I don’t wanna accidentally step on any figurative toes by buying trades not explicitly listed as such, whoops). But in other news, Hallow leveled up >:o Thought he’d die at 11. I don’t plan on breeding him (didn’t even hit 500+, RIP) but that’s still neat.

• OWO, sold the high-stat male, and his name is now Addox which is super fuckin’ cool >:O Also, I respect the player’s gall to (at the time of writing) use CSS to basically overhaul the entire Wolvden layout. [joke-cocky voice] Pfah, I could do that myself if I wanted, although it’s jarring enough on a first encounter that I’ll settle for little tweaks. Still though, damn.

• Been finding medium scent trails a lot more often as of -checks userlog- yesterday >:0c Dangit, should’ve noted Andesite’s stats earlier, although it’s up WIS+2 and SMR+5 since this post last week. Interesting.

• OH HEWWO, looks like today’s update might have something to do with that!! Gah, I don’t have time to read it in detail right now, but it’s lookin’ good to me >:3c Also yesss the bat—the price seemed a little steep at first, but considering it’s testing for all mutations at once? Not bad, not bad at all. I’m gonna throw Lichen at it 👀
  • Update: F. No luck on Diorite, Hallow, or Esker, either :V Not really interested in anyone else atm, but I’ll keep this in mind for any NBWs I pick up.
• After skimming the thread a bit and seeing all the complaints about the price (which are valid tbh), if they lower it I will eat an entire hat pinecone for jumping the gun. That hastiness is on me :U

• Oh hey, Andesite’s in heat today. You know what that means ;Dc —Dang, one of the studs I was considering has been taken down. What a shame… forcing me to use one with a shorter lineage and lower cost instead.... Request sent! And before long, bred.

• Wow, I have been zoning the fuck out on this website lately; second time in a row I’ve accidentally sent a nonrefunded trade when I did indeed mean to make it “free” >:V But anyway, wow what the fuck there’s multiple pages of GC for SC at a 1:60 ratio. Don’t think I’ve seen it that low… ever? Yeah, ever. If Gene made SC demand soar I ain’t complainin.
• Edit: It appears all but literally one of these trades (which I snagged) have been set up by one (1) person. The next lowest ratio is 1:62, via a bunch (but not as many) from another individual, then scattered 1:65s. Wack.

• Anyway, glaucous is in heat Again as of yesterday but with Andesite pups on the way I’ll spare her. Also, the lead duo are 6 on the dot today! Old woofs. If things have been slow in lore lately too it’s because the leads are developing a healthy layer of crust.

• Hunting data point: Wickfen is once again stalking since Andesite’s nesting. He’s at 70%+ proficiency in that, still, and the party overall has 99% synergy. Trail return? Only critters so far. His Smarts are only about 10 off but the Wisdom is a difference of 235 to 94, oof.

• Aaaand Andesite has four pups! All over 430 stats and three of them have honeydew what the ACTUAL fuck. Hey, remember Cricket and Aphid? Which one of those lil pricks (affectionate) had this base?? HAUNTING.
• Interestingly we gottttt one with mostly-black markings (and skin and nose), one with all white markings and pallid skin & nose (white claws), and fuck yeah the sole monochrome, a snow boy, also happens to have the highest stats of the litter and a whopping nine markings, all at >60% opacity to boot (mostly 90–100%, actually, with one 69%) >:D So that makes the pick of the litter easy! Although I also gotta give a shoutout to his bro, the fourth and final pup, for being the only one to inherit dad’s black eyes—and high opacity black markings on the face. 2spooky voidface much appreciate
• …If you slap a grayscale base on that last pup he looks like the crying cat meme HSGDHSGDHSHDJS
• Also, they already out-stat Micah (lvl10 419), Moulin (lvl7 416), and Lichen (lvl10 430, albeit 452 after levelup). Amazing.
• Oh yeah, and they were all born with a comfy 80% survival chance >:3 I’ll protect them all to 100% though, because with stats like those and monochrome markings (and a G2 no-leaderboard lineage, ayy) surely someone will be interested.

• —Oh hewwo, in other news Drukqs is in heat >:O Do we need more pups? No! Am I gonna breed her anyway because if a resulting pup doesn’t somehow outclass Jyn then the whole litter gets yeeted$$? Yeah!
• Yeeting Esker an opacity boost right after this edit. The whitening of his fur has been gradual over winter; he takes it as a sign of acceptance from the snowy aurora spirits. When consulted for Thoughts on the green pups, he kinda just tilts his head a little. I think. Did the Important Pups have to be gold, specifically, or does his group like colorbombs in general? The latter makes more sense. “Blessed litter” he says, while elsewhere in the heavens/world, a certain Cricket feels something is Wrong in the universe.
• Opacity: boosted. (I don’t really like the new look tbh but what can ya do.) Pair: bonded. Bred: yes, second try. It’s a 50/50 on slot 4.
• Oh yeah, and since I bought two opacity changers to round out the onhand GC, might as well slap one on Cycles too. She also looks worse now but such are projects ig :D

• …Not me previewing cryingcatpup with Nepheline, briefly flipping out because nooo that looks too good now I wanna keep and base change him, then realizing it doesn’t matter because that’s a breed-only base /o"\ It’s… for the best…. But I do gotta get my grubby little paws on that base eventually, It Pretty.
• Anyway, I’ll edit in the obligatory pup lineup next, but with all the hunter levelups and strong new pups, it’s a bountiful start to spring for the Jackdaws. This will soon be offset by Hallow, Drove, and glaucous kicking the bucket within this or next season :,D It’s the ciiiiiircle of liiiiiiiiife~
• As a side note, Hallow hits minimum death age on the same day Jyn grows up. I’ll see what the RNG allows; if Jyn runs and Hallow’s still kickin’, I’ll let him stick around until the reclaim cooldown’s up.
• Side note to the side note, I’ve been trying to write “Jyn” instead of his full name lest this hell thread show up in the search results for a perfectly good album/song, which I really should’ve considered sooner tbh. • Funky date numbers today >:O Anyway, nested “truck ducks”, and normally tomorrow would be the day of Reckoning for Hallow and Jyn but plot twist: won a somewhat delayed raffle for a melanistic pup! who’s now an adult! which means I have to kill two wolves off early today instead, fun…!
• Do I have a replacement finisher for either team? Not quite, no; Liesl exists but at this point I kinda just wanna have her spam-strength-scout the Rainforest til she hits 20, just as an experiment. Drucks could fill in for party #2, since she was a finisher for a short time, but there’s such a level disparity I’d probably have more luck actually bringing prey back by letting Andesite take care of it.
• So the strategic answer is to nix Hallow and Glaucous, but… I kinda wanna kill Drove instead :,Dc It’s easier to justify in-lore, at any rate; they both got hit by the same $significantAccident and it took ‘em both out.
• I also kind of have half a mind to make “mela bean” responsible?? Ugh, sue me, blue-eyed black wolf is A Bad Guy and it’s not suuuper conductive with his Neutral personality, and okay yeah he reasonably couldn’t kill two wolves anyway. Could’ve been around at the scene of the disaster in any case, and was invited to join the pack from there?
• —Dangit, they’re both hunting right now, but when they get back… well, they Won’t, in-lore. Not alive, at least. Woohoo, new trauma for the whole squad!!

• Since I actually have a lil spot of time to kill, thoughts on The Event… they’re both pretty damn experienced at this point, Drove especially, so beginner’s mistakes sound unlikely. They’ve also been in the taiga for, what, a couple years now? so they’d know the terrain decently as well. But you can never account for a random disaster….
• RNG time? RNG time. 1: prey fought back; 2: Boreas altercation; 3: mudslide or other abrupt inclement weather.
• A small delay later, RNG said 1, and just in time for the squad to return with a porcupine… and Hallow got an open wound, go figure. A lil porcupine is anticlimactic but What If It Was Rabid. —Although nah, that’d be dumb, surely they’d want to ditch the trail after noticing. Also, that could imply there are More, and I’d rather not starve the pack for lore right now.
• So screw it, we’ll change it to a caribou hunt. Both parties have been slow to go after larger prey, both because the pack has been well-sustained on smaller carcasses and because none of them are that adept at navigating the taiga yet. But they went out on a limb today; the scent was strong, the individual seemed weak, and they have pups to feed (Andesite’s); why not surprise the pack?
• Because the old cervid kicks Hallow, that’s why, and goes a bit feral on his ass because lore said two of them have to die. And/or maybe a stampede is triggered somehow, and they both get caught in the crossfire? I kinda like the thought of Drove trying to save Hallow regardless; it’d be a nice parallel to Hallow doing similar for Diorite, even if this time neither makes it out alive, and ties up what “character arcs” they have nicely: Drove goes from interrupting a hunt out of selfish loner bravado to saving a packmate he has every reason to hate/hold a grudge against, and Hallow already had his big sacrificial moment but it’s nice to die knowing someone was looking out for him after all. RIP to them both :,)

Day 125 2021/02/22

• Good morning I did not actually early-retire Drove and Hallow because I got caught up in art hell last night (not Wolvden-related) and so Jyn made a run for it :,^D I’ll uhhh fix that later, for now I need to Do Things.
• Also, Drucks’ second litter was born today! Three pups, two of whom I’m selling but the first is a female with two White Shaded so she stays. Shame she and Jyn are related; I technically don’t have to avoid inbreeding for this but that’s not really something I wanna deal with for lore.
• Additional note to self for later: when Jyn is reclaimed, make him pupsitter. The Esker/Drucks/Cycles trio can’t quite get all three newcomers to 100%; someone’s got the shorter end of the stick, and while the rollover boost will offset that, I’d rather not take any chances.

• Alright there, now Hallow and Drove are dead. I initially typo’d that as “are dad,” which is also not wrong. And as a side note, this was a neat lil look at how many stats they gain between levelups; for comparison, before and after:

• Vord and secondborn look like a mix of Esker and Drucks >:o Love it when that happens.
• Also dang, that’s two litters in a row with 100% friendly dispositions. I think most of my wolves in the long run, including temps/NBWs, have been Romantic or Aggressive (the Taiga visitor log sure is purble); regardless, Stoic wolves have no rights here apparently.

• Aaaaand finished something I’ve been putting off, finally, and as a little reward… behold, the mela bean >:D He is Very inbred but he reminds me vaguely of a red panda and I have half a mind to just,,
• Meta plans aside though. As spring (of heck-if-I-know-which year, I’ve been neglecting the timeline) draws to a close it’s a sad day for the Jackdaws, with Drove and Hallow killed in a hunting accident. Though Husk, Carcass, and Moulin attempt to pick up the slack, it’s not the same. Liesl considers dropping her scouting duties to pick up the slack, but it’s too soon and her heart’s not into it.
• A pitch black wolf from the Deciduous Forest is present at the time of the accident, but doesn’t interfere. (What could he have done?) I was going to continue this with more lore but creative brain goes [buzzing static noises], whoops.
• In any case, might change snow pup’s personality so he can take up the romantic/aggressive finisher mantle. Mela bean baby, as the thread called him, miiight be the next breeding male, so for now he’s a scout and he’ll be racking up wisdom/smarts in the Glacier and Tundra. And that’s all, folks!

• Oop, one last thing: that got ‘im right up to Level 2, with a quarter of the bar already filled >:O Stats: Hacked….
• —wait how the fuck did he scout the Glacier, he has 69 Wisdom?? Wasn’t it supposed to be 101+ minimum??? I gotta check bug reports and/or guides tomorrow to see if the threshold was lowered, jeez.

• Summertiiiime and the mountain’s foggy, can’t find a wolf for the life of me; Andesite’s puppies finally weaned, got half a mind to make the quest snake meat; yeah, I’m, out of rhymes, but look at this daily, six freakin’ hunts today.
• That’s actually fine with me tbh. Before this I s2g it was like three battle quests in a row; mustelids, bears, wolves. All terrible and patience-testing; at least hunting is passive >:V

• Infection on Liesl from a scout, cured as always. Phew, almost thought that was influenza; I still need to stock up on Rainforest herbs. (We are gonna be in so much trouble if someone catches flu or distemper after Diorite kicks the bucket and before the map is rescouted :D)

• Hmm, took a gander at my space and I’m 90% sure the snow pup and Vord (new project pup) growing up are going to cause Space Problems again. glaucous is dying next (big RIP, the original Jackdaws continue to bite the dust…) but then there’s a ~20-day gap before the next oldies hit death age. For all intents and purposes, Drucks and Cycles are redundant now that I have a female with two white shaded, but tbh I kinda wanna keep them around because Low Gens Useful.
• Basically there is a non-small chance that breeding projects are going to take over my space in the near future, what with those two being pretty young, but ~we’ll see~. (Has the hypothetical drinking game for that phrase killed anyone yet?)
• In any case, I’m cool with that; other projects and priorities have eclipsed Wolvden for the time being on the creativity and free time fronts, and the forced downsize over time could make for some interesting lore if/when I impose that gosh dang death roll in tandem. Gotta love long-term goals!
• Incidentally, tight space also means I haven’t bought or recruited any new wolves in 50000 years, which is for the best.

• Meanwhile, a couple unrelated notes: Firstly, looks like the stat minimum is indeed not a thing for rescouts, cool! And second, glaucous’ son is up for grabs again >:o Not complaining, just offering some unsolicited shilling because I don’t have the space to take him back myself. (His sister, meanwhile, is already expecting pups! Neat.)

• Speaking of space and pups, I am absolutely not breeding Zephyr or Husk until they’re old enough to die before the pups (F), but they ain’t getting any younger either so I gotta keep an eye on that. Worse comes to worse I shill out for an elk heart or two, but I’d Prefer Not To. (Gah, when I get more on top of things, I gotta reopen those YWHs >:V Cones are exchanged for goods and services.)
  
• ALSO speaking of not being on top of things, flails in lore. Okay you know what, I’m gonna go do a quick thing and then update the timeline, because I wanna see what the snow lad has ~experienced~. I have absolutely no idea what to do for his lore but have I mentioned I’m considering a personality change? The 113WIS is nice but the second-highest stat average is for a finisher, by a mere 1.5 points behind, and Hawk’s Eyes could use one now. Then again, so will $thePartyThatStillDoesn’tHaveAFuckignName when glaucous dies. Decisions, decisions.

• Oh yeah, also, slightly delayed shoutout to another lore tracker I caught up on recently >;3 Having separately-formatted posts for The Lore™ is genius, as is having a nice all-in-one dedicated space for character summaries. Also, morally grey characters, getcher morally dubious maybe-future-harems here!

• Stray thought: I kinda love the idea of there being some kind of Mysterious Legend surrounding $melaBean, at least within the region; something something looks “burned,” mythic fire associations, black wolves are less common the further north you go—but whether he’s heard of the legends or not, the Jackdaws haven’t. So at some point Liesl’s chatting with an outsider, maybe a Boreas acquaintance, and they’re like “you met a pitch black wolf? like 500%??” “no he had blue eyes—” “DUDE” and that’s now the Jackdaws belatedly realized they inadvertently recruited a living legend.
• But the value of albinistic/melanistic wolves has taken a nosedive, and that’s reflected in the stories too; once his coat be so rare, then boom. Player interference.
• Players are not a Thing in my lore, I am not dragging meta storytelling fuckery to haha funney wolf site (stuff like Husk and Bone existing, and ig Andesite’s customization until/unless I come up with an in-story reason for that, is handwaved if anything), BUT I also have that tongue-in-cheek aspect of Suddenly Population that Talak alluded to way back when. No one’s keeping track of the exponential global wolf family tree, correlation =/= causation, but what I’m getting at here is that mela’s heard scattered whispers of ~ooh mysterious black wolf up north~, went there himself, and then was like “H????” when absolutely no one, including the Jackdaws, really made note of it.
• I am pairing him with Moulin and no one can stop me. I just think the dynamic would be funny: golden boy raised to think he’s some kind of Hot Shite Chosen One but for increasingly unclear purposes (although he’s liking life with the Jackdaws plenty, even if things could be rough with Carcass depending how much the latter projects his Brother Complex onto the kid), and dark lad who was theoretically something special once upon a time but is increasingly finding that myth was yesterday’s news. Born in the wrong century, smh.

• Okay Anyway, n.b. on the “pairing:” I am not actually doing that onsite because first of all, I don’t necessarily mean it in a #bromo way, and second that’ll be a Problem if I ever want to breed either of them (before melabean can become breeding male, at least; no, I am not shelling out 20 h-cking gold cones to replace Diorite early, that pricetag is absurd). By “pairing” I mean I Just Think The Parallels Are Neat, and I want them to fight and/or commiserate over it.
• Melabean’s personality is a big ol’ question mark right now, which is not helped in the slightest by his personality being neutral. I had half a mind to make him responsible for the caribou incident before noticing that (also something something Dark Wolf Evil is yawn, Hallow tried that already and he turned into a fucking loser (affectionate), we can do better), but it also means he didn’t intervene until specifically called on either. Do we have another “passivity is my personality” bastard? >:V
• Although, if we consider that and the tidbit about vaguely believing he was supposed to be special/important and then realizing He Is Not, the neutrality could be very, very enforced; god forbid he gives anyone the wrong impression. HMMM much to think about
  • TIL the less than symbol might break the post unless you type it as < in the code editor. Amazing. Also my repeated attempts to make that monospaced like actual code kept breaking it. Wolvden has a functional editor.

• “I don’t plan on killing anyone else off early” [insert title card] Drove And Hallow Got Killed Off Early. Not necessarily too early since Hallow hit the death roll age on the day and Drove was a mere day behind, but still.
  
• I do not think I phrased that whole thing on Glaucous and Lichen well, so as a rephrase/refresher: Basically, glaucous had a soft spot for Wickfen and Lichen because they both joined the Jackdaws in the context of being an outsider. The fact they were both fairly timid at the time is a coincidence. glaucous has always been aloof, so she wasn’t projecting any puphood loneliness—it stems from her being seen as an outsider now/in Y5 Autumn, and relating to the feeling of being mistrusted/out of place. That said, after the pack realizes it’s kinda shitty of them to still be wary of Glaucous when they’ve let both Hallow and Lichen in without much incident, their acceptance in turn makes Glaucous feel more comfortable and welcome. At some point she brings in a couple orphaned pups, and while they don’t stick around, it’s a sign of character development in comparison to her earlier litter, about whom she cared very little.
  • Basically, she’s still the Token Stoic, but everyone else (in the aggregate) is cooler about that being Her Thing and not some sign she has ulterior motives or hates them all or something. It’s about damn time, and to be fair it’s required some actual Effort on her part too (joining the hunting party with Lichen), but eyy better late than never.

• Okay, I edited in a little sub-note about the wolf sale, but for the record, once again with passion: I do not care if you resell and/or chase a wolf I sold. I keep an eye on wolves who’ve passed my den just for the heck of it, because it amuses me, but I’m not gonna be upset if some pixels get yeeted to the void. It’s nice if they make it to forever homes, but I don’t expect that! Make a profit, breed then chase, idgaf we gud.
• It’s possible this “disclaimer” is wholly unnecessary, but I know based on my $dragonsite days that this can be, uh, contentious :V Like, I don’t vibe with picking up a $virtualPet who’s explicitly been marked not to yeet with intentions of yeeting them, but reselling? yeeting after a while anyway because you changed your mind? Go for it, dude; the $pet is yours, and the previous owner forefeit all right to have a say over its fate the second they made the listing. “I don’t vibe” = “I think it’s a jerk move, but not like, harassment-worthy.”
