A Leader's Questions...

Edit: oop answered at the same time, I'll answer yours then

Aurora Moon smiled at the question, always willing to speak about the Moon Goddess and her blessings. "The Moon Goddess is my leader. She blessed me, and chose me to start this pack. She had guided me and out herbalist to create better futures for our pups and those we take in. She chooses who would be a worthy candidate to become the next Moon Alpha, and we are forever grateful to her for giving us life."

She thinks for a moment, before looking to the leader who just joined the conversation. "Have you ever had to... Kill a pack member? And why?"

Lustre would be a bit taken aback by the blunt question. "N..No, I haven't, but a past leader might have," He'd reply, thinking over the history he had been taught. "The closest to killing a pack member would've been an incident revolving around a wolf named Cascade. To make this brief, I'll explain the gist of what happened." Lustre took a deep breath before continuing, "Cascade joined the pack around year 2 in search of her brother, Torrent. Soul had chased Torrent out months earlier and lied to her about having not seen him. When Cascade found out, she was furious and tore Soul's ear off during their argument. She became an outcast of sorts because of this. One day, a little after the fight the two had, Cascade was sent to catch a prey animal too big for her to take down and didn't make it out alive. Nobody knows what Soul's goal was for lying to her or if Soul was the cause of her demise. I'm not too sure myself. It's been over a decade since all this happened."

Catching sight of a nearby wolf patiently waiting for a question, Lustre didn't waste any more time. "Is there a certain period you wish you could go back to in your pack? There is so much pack history I don't know about all because I wasn't alive to witness it. I think it would be nice to see it for myself. What do you think?"

Butter listened amongst the other leaders, her cranium dipping as each of them spoke. Her excitement could be told by the perking of her ears, her cranium turning towards the lead Lustre. A smile upon her maw as the question was asked, "Yes! There is period of time I'd like to go back to... When I was a pup. I want to go back to when I was a youngling, when Peanut was around and her mate Wyatt. Where all of my elders were alive- that period of time was my favorite, even though it was only mere years ago. But other than that, I'd like to see when our Queen Dove passed and Queen Lightfall took over. Apparently she was an out-casted wolf from another pack that decided to take up on the role as our Queen. Of course, from stories Ancient tells us... Alya, our eldest pack member who was here since the beginning, was the first wolf to accept Queen Lightfall as the true Queen. Sadly I wasn't able to get Alya's approval, but I got Queen Lightfalls' son's approval."

Butter soon quieted down, her cranium lowered in respect, glancing over at another lead wolf with a smile on her maw. "How long does it take your pack members to accept a new arrival?"

Isidoris twitched the tip of his tail, mulling over the question for a bit. "Well.... Hemelstorm doesn't often... receive new members. Pups are born into our ranks- yes. However... Hardly oft do we take in adults from outside our own. Those that do end up in our borders... often don't leave alive, so to speak. They end up in the Fire, with Foti. Though, a tradition created many before me, that those with eyes made of ice are permitted to at least leave. A blessing from Krýo..."

Turning to another wolf across the circle, the he-wolf tipped his head, smiling before he spoke, "And during a famine, what does your pack do?"

Well, Starve! And send hunt parties frenetically to the easy prey places! What else are we supposed to do?
Anyways, time for a question. Have you seen the fae? I think my grandfather had a deal with one of them when he was alive...

Lightning crown shook her head.
"I have not seen the fae wolves in my lifetime. However, the Singer of the pack, Hollow Song, has seen them many times in her travels, and is rumored by some to be descended from them."
She smiled in admiration of Hollow Song, then turned to the next wolf.
"How does your pack record stories? Do you pass them through song or writing?"

Butter lowered her cranium as the question was asked. The young female grinned as her tassel started to pat the ground; these questions were her favorite. Her paws padding against the ground as her frame raised from the ground.
"Our pack records stories through items and songs or elder stories connected to them. Like the Dove that follows me around now, she's an old tale of our pack. After our first Queen Dove passed, this creature soon came into the pack. Following our fallen Queen Lightfall around till she became ill and started following me around. I was only 10 months old at that time, but she told me that I'm the chosen one to take over the pack. But we have many other items that connect back to our elders and past leaders... Our Elder Ancient is passing soon and she wears a headdress of her flowers and feathers, showing that she used to keep our pack happy. Not every item has a good story though... Lien, one of our hunters was cursed when she turned an adult and was forced to be blinded by blue light and gain a sickly green coat. We've been told Mako, the cursed male we had within the pack ages ago was reincarnated as her. It's only a legend though- she can't tell us if it's true or not."

After Butter kept on muttering random items within the pack she stopped, her tongue licking at her maw before gazing at another wolf close to them. "What do you do with your passed wolves' belongings?"

Tenno turned around with a stick still in his mouth, he turned and placed it next to something he has been drawing in the sand for about twenty stories. He sits obstructing the view of his 'master piece' and replies simply,
"There is but one belonging of importance in our pack. The simple dragon pendant hanging around my neck." He shifted a bit to let the necklace hang, then puffed his chest out. " It was giving in the time the planet was still thawing from it's icy age. It was passed on from a dragon needing to finish its metamorphosis deep in the bowels of a mountain. The pendant is a promise. A promise to protect the dragon and bring it gems and precious metal to help it in it's process. In return, the ability to read information in stones, specifically gems stones, and the ability to pass it on to the next reclaimer. I found a sapphire last moon that showed me small creatures that live within all living things belly's and mouth's. Interesting to say the least. Most never believe these things I tell them, so I keep to myself."

Turning and grabbing the stick with his teeth, he turned back to his drawing. Looking back over his shoulder he mumbles out, "we keep track of items but what about your territory? What is your understanding of your cave systems in relation to your home biome? Do you know which cave is next to each other? For instance my most valuable wolves get nested at the summit of our mountain next to our great juniper tree, while hunters prefer to live in the open thunder feilds and sleep in caves at ground level. Do you know what your home biome looks like?

Tenno was already drawing again before he even finished talking, (your starting to wonder if it's a map of some sort.)

Fell had been enjoying the different stories with the questions and answers.
"My pack and I haven't yet discovered all of our current territory so there's always room for mysteries."Fell stretched as she spoke. "We sleep where we will unless we're raising very young pups."She paused then continued, watching the other leader's drawing curiously. "We can navigate underground caves ok enough but of course we're not experts. It's just enough to protect the pack if needed."
She shook herself briefly. "If you had to make a hard choice for the survival of the pack, what would you do? What choices would you make? Would you abandon some, (pups, adols or adults), or protect others?" She flicked her tail gently.

"Unfortunately," Aurora Moon started, sitting still with her headpiece perfectly in place. It reflected a light that almost seemed to come from her different eyes. "Those choices have to be made, whether or not one likes it. There have been instances in which wolves have had to leave the pack. Too many wolves but with so little territory. We value our elder and long standing pack members, as well as our pups. So when push comes to shove, newer members who have not yet found their footing or don't yet call it home have to leave." Her tail twitched, not particularly enjoying kicking out wolves who were seeking shelter and home.

She shook her head, moving on. "Do you have any rules or regulations when it comes to who can mate with who, or even if certain roles are allowed to mate, let alone have pups? Have there ever been any instances of these rules being broken?"
