Development Update #14

Posted 2021-12-20 04:38:06
I'm not understanding this update.
Do I need to buy the FAPA thing from the grove to make this new feature work?
If not how am I missing it from my den? ;_; I feel so dumb

@BarkinIntheDark: The Feed All Play All tool is only needed to access the changes made to the tool today (being able to feed/play on a per-cave basis at the bottom of your den page).  If you don't have FAPA, you can't do that on your den.  You can, however, feed/play from a stack within your hoard by selecting any stacked (multiple) items!

@BarkinIntheDark

You can get Remnants by using any craftable item all the way(Must use all uses of said item and the it has to be a item that can be made into a decor or BG already such as: Bones, Blue Jay Feathers, Gull Feathers, Chicken Eggs etc.). You don't need FAPA to get Remnants but you do need FAPA to access the being able to feed & play wolves of certain dens at one time. You can click on any amusment stack and a new play option is avalible without FAPA that has a dropdown menue where you can play with a sigle wolf at a time and select how many uses to use on that wolf.

(I am still learning too but I think that's everything).

Edit: Katze beat me to it lmao gg

The new feeding menu doesn't really save time, like others have already explained.

I also didn't get a remnant from Bighorn Skull, is this an error or do some amusement items simply not make remnants? I love the idea of remnants, by the way, so I apologize if I sound harsh.

I agree with morrigan and mima.. as someone with a large pack who doesn't have the FAPA tool, this update makes feeding/playing MUCH more tedious because the next wolf Isn't automatically selected when feeding/playing from the hoard stacks.

@Narasimha: As mentioned under the Remnants header, only items used in crafting recipes will give remnants when they are used up.  If an item isn't used in a crafting recipe, it will not drop any remnants.

@PixelWolfDog: Auto-selecting wolves when feeding/playing from stacks was added a few minutes ago!

I fail to see how the changes make it easier to feed and play with the wolves? I have a big pack and I have to click to feed every individual wolf and manage the carcasses that are rotting first the same way. I already took a months-long break because the whole feeding process was such a chore and I was excited for QoL improvements but I don't know if this update helped at all?

Useful updates, thank you!

I do wish too though that yall  would make it so you can consume an entire item tho. Like a "consume entire item" button that spreads out the consumes across the next available wolves in your roster. Perhaps let us select multiple wolves to eat it, but have it choose the next few on your list by default.

Like it's nice that you don't have to click on individual seal carcasses now, but you're still spamming 5 clicks just to use it… like why not just let us allocate the uses of a specific item more efficiently?

Like removing the need to select the individual carcasses is a step in the right direction, but it does not fix the tedium of gameplay. I know yall want to make money off of the feeding perks in the shop, but I worry that the feeding system is being intentionally held back because of it— and that it will ultimately be what makes a lot of users quit. The amount of tedious clicking that goes into daily gameplay is already sky high with Wolvden's reliance on exploring. Making that tedium extend relentlessly to feeding wolves just… it's a lot. I feel my desire to keep playing ebb whenever I have to click through feeding and playing with my wolves at a snail's pace.

@Susiron: In fairness, that is the intent of the Feed All tool—to feed all (or multiple) of your wolves at once, rather than individually.  If that sort of mechanic is what you're looking for, then it might be worth investing in the Feed All tool since you can have it feed all of your wolves using the available food items within your hoard in one button click.

@SnuhKatze That's an expensive store feature and if you're saying relying on that is the answer to tedious and frustrating gameplay… that's  kind of a slap in the face.

If a part of the game is so tedious and annoying that it requires micro transactions to handle, I think that's something that needs to be reconsidered.

Also a one click thing is still a benefit over what I was suggesting.
