NIB (aka "Clean") Breeding?

Oh thanks for the information! :) For a bit I was confused by clean breeding and NIB.

No offence @Jax, but you can't have things both ways. Either clean breeding is not at all synonymous with NIB, and never was, or it is. When the LD playerbase migrates over, and popular sire syndrome becomes a thing, you'll be able to redefine clean yourself, and hopefully get people to use the correct meaning.

Personally, I've always managed to avoid inbreeding on LD, whilst still using stat monsters, so it doesn't necessarily mean "same thing, different label".

@Gamer you forgot Kylian at 500+ whose offspring will sooner or later hit the LB at the rate the stat chasers keep saving them lol

The thread is literally called "NIB aka Clean Breeding" but alright lol

As another user stated, Clean Breeding has grown to encompass a variety of meanings (Lowgen, No Heritage, ect.), namely no big 4 and no inbreeding. If NIB means No Inbreeding and one definition of Clean is "No Inbreeding", then yes, I can have it both ways actually ;)

I don't particularly mind either way. It's just very interesting to watch how my playstyle unfolds on a new game, even if it's wearing a new coat of paint, so to speak.

I don't know why you started off saying it definitively wasn't synonymous then, but alright, you do you. NIB has been a thing on petsims since they started

Once clans/groups become a fully integrated function on the site, I think that will help things become a little more clear of who's doing what and why. Having clan missions that clearly outline what their goals are will help people connect with other players with similar plans and playstyles. Forum threads can be a little more nebulous with people continually talking and changing minds and sharing ideas.

New game, new complexities, new mechanics, new definitions. There's no easy lift-and-shift of terms when not inbreeding and avoiding common LB wolves will be a manual effort because of a) no easy calculator on the peds and b) no unique naming convention for studs. Which Shadow? Which Kubo? In a year there could be dozens.

It wasn't synonymous. At least not in the beginning. However, again as the user stated, even if I coined the term and can tell you what it originally meant, how it shifts and changes over time isn't really up to me.

Clean means no big 4, but it also means no incest, no heritage, short lines, ect.

NIB appears to be WolvDen's version of clean breeding as it is defined as "No Inbreeding". I can't say anything about other pet sims, only LD and WD.

From what I see from this there are two major groups, NIB and IB, and that there are multiple subcategorizes between them.

A few suggestions that came up in the forum and other threads

OGL (Original Pair Line) - When the pack/lead wolves are related to the original starter wolves.

OGP (Original Pair) - When a wolf/pack is descendent from both original lead/Breeding pair( i think)?

and then there are the different variations of IB

LB (Line-Bred) - Wolves who do have instances of inbreeding, but not between first degree relatives. So no mother/son, father/daughter, brother/sister pairings, for instance, but cousins would technically be fine

OCR (Outcrossed) - A wolves' parents that share a very distant ancestor, one, in their family tree.
