i know some come from nbws, but what about the ones that specifically say "breed only?" for example, mojave and teardrop.

It just means you won't find them on NBWs (except chased ones, if you're lucky), one of their parents has to have been a T3.

I was wondering that myself earlier. If all the T3s are breed only, where did the first one come from?

Apparently the answer is, Special Bases and the Fox Applicator. All T3s wolves either had the fox base applied to them, descend from a wolf with a fox base, or descend from a wolf with a special base.

oh
interesting
so are special bases as a stud more valuable than a t3 stud?

I think value varies - special bases are easier to get onto an NBW than a T3 base, so people who like low gen lines might go after them more. But a breed-only T3 might then have higher stats, since they're not an NBW, and that would be more valuable to people breeding for stats. My stud has a special base and has bred 64 pups without me ever advertising him (can't be bothered), but I don't know how that compares to similarly statted T3s. I think (could be completely off base here) that the odds of a T3 pup are better with a T3 parent than a special base parent so I would guess that T3s would be more valuable, except to those who care about keeping generations low.

I think T3s can be more useful if you have a specific breeding project? T3s have a color group, but special bases don't. If you breed to a special base you can get a base from any color group.
