I think there are portals between America and Europe. Some wolves, animals and plants have appeared here, but some wolves have disappeared through those same portals.

guys! on the quest you can find weird herbs, I think we are in north America but
I keep finding herbs from Europe. I also found a lynx in the jungle.

I'm pretty sure it has something to do with Fae, the theme is Celtic/Gaelic, we have the will-o'-the-wisps that can waste our energy by leading us down the wrong path (I'm assuming anyway, haven't read the negative interaction) or benefit us just like they do in mythology. I've also had wolves tell me about big scary cat things so maybe Cat-Sith are up to something? It's more likely fairy circles and standing stones from ancient druidic ruins transporting anything that crosses through.
