The collectors struggle: Butterfly Decors

The collectors struggle: Butterfly Decors

Disclaimer: I don't offer suggestion for a new decors, just a slight repositioning of the existing ones.

A little bit of a back story
The story starts with a little bit of an obsession, having way too many SC on my hands and an ultimate goal - to collect all the butterflies in the game. That goal had a few visual hiccups. Did you know that Sandia Hairstreak and Mourning Cloak are overlapping each other in the puppy stage? I did not. My heart skipped the beat, my mouse rushed to the Wardrobe link... Sigh of relief. They don't overlap in the other stages! Somehow, I managed to not have any major overlaps, until...

What is the issue
This:

The upper part is... A bit of a mess. What I've also realized is the imbalance of the butterfly decors. If you compare the upper picture to the one below, the butterflies are evenly spread on the bottom part of the wolf, no overlaps happening. However, butterflies on the top are squished together in the center.

How to fix it and possible solutions
After giving it a little bit of a thought, I came up with a couple of drafts. First part of the picture always shows the original state, the ones underneath it are suggestions.

Sandia Hairstreak vs. Mourning Cloak - Puppy Stage

Positioning of the butterfly is taken from the adolescent version of the butterfly, as it changes position and flips. By moving the Mourning Cloak to the left side, where will appear in Adolescent and Adult stage, it is not only visible, but the transition is also smoother as the wolf gets older. Alternatively, the Mourning Cloak could face towards the neck, to keep the butterflies on the back face the same way.

Red-Spotted Purple vs. Monarch Butterfly

The top part is shown on the adult wolf, to make sure the position is not clashing with the wolf picture. By moving one of the butterflies to the left part, which is when all butterflies (lunar ones not included) are applied, is empty. That solves the issue with these two butterflies overlapping.
Edit: As I just noticed that the Monarch Butterfly overlaps Mourning Cloak in the adult form, I would suggest the bottom solution.

Zebra Swallowtail vs. Spicebush Swallowtail

As this one may affect the butterflies around, I shown a bit more of them. The issue are the two in top circle. I think the middle solution is a little bit more visually pleasing, as it is more subtle than the bottom one.

Arctic White vs. Brown Arctic

Last one is undoubtedly the least hurting one, as when the Brown Arctic is moved underneath the Arctic White, it doesn't look so bad. I personally would propose the middle option, as it fills in the space in top right, as shown on the very first picture of this post. However, I think the option underneath is acceptable as well, just moving the butterfly a little bit bottom and right.

The final words
Alright, let's be real for a second. It is not the end of the world, even though I may have been a little dramatic in the explanation. However, Wolvden is not only gameplay, but also decor oriented a lot. I do understand that certain decors will overlap, but as collecting butterflies is such a cute thing to do and the game encourages it by rewarding exploring with biome-specific butterflies and also Racoon has butterfly in nearly each biome shop, I figured it is worth a shot to bring it up. I may not be the only one who got a little sad about the top part.

At the end of the day, I'm just a bored adult who spends their evening by slapping butterflies on a pixel woofs. It is not a huge issue, not a drastically game-changing thing, but could be a nice touch to the decor collectors out there (please tell me I'm not the only one lol).

Strong support, butterfly/bug/bird decor collection is a fairly common hobby on here and it'd be nice if our collections didn't look like cluttered messes!

I don't like animal decors but I still support!

definitely support! it would be amazing if they could fix the positioning, it looks really unaesthetic when they're all clustered together.

there's also loads of available space around the wolf, particularly around its tail and head.. so there's no reason for them to be overlapping.

Support! I noticed this the other day when I went to add both arctic white and brown arctic to a wolf... I was really disappointed when they overlapped. It just looks like less thought was put into designing those decors.
