Chapter 1 — Choice 4: Results (1A) (0B) (0C) (2D)
It's been a few days, but I'm finally back! Replies should be daily from here on out. I'm glad that people are enjoying this.

Chapter 1 [The Hunt] — Choice 5:

Guidonis remains silent as the others argue. Although he's curious about the others' thoughts, he has nothing to say himself.

"Bay," Chriou points out. "ITHI is our predecessor and Bay reports directly to Mantle. He knows good and well what he's putting us through." The lead stalker explains, "The other hunting parties can't catch anything but critters in the Swamp. It's common knowledge that PSCI is the best, but Mantle wants more proof before leading us to the Glacier."

"We're going to the Glacier?" Aruan interrupts. "Isn't that an entire season of travel?"

Asterlyn confirms, "It is. I already mentioned that Mantle hates us, didn't I? Regardless, we change biomes every month. Trekking to the Glacier won't be the strangest thing he asks us to do."

Guidonis tunes out the rest of PSCI for a bit — despite their overall competence, they have a bad habit of getting sidetracked. While the others debate, Guidonis observes the slight ripple of murky water. He knows that fish live in the same waters that flood most of the Swamp; however, he's yet to take a good look at one of them.

What should he do?
A) wade into the water and catch some fish
B) stay where he is and listen to the conversation
C) interrupt the rest of PSCI because can't they just start the hunt already, please

Expect an open-ended prompt soon.

Chapter 1 [The Hunt] — Choice 6:

Because Guidonis is young and bored, powerful and petulant, the chaser decides that there's nothing wrong with slipping away for a moment. It's a win-win for both sides, really. The others can debate or whatever they're doing, and Guidonis can terrorize some minnows.

Unfortunately, Asterlyn comes to her senses before he actually does anything. "Sneaking away, Little Lord?" she remarks, bringing to attention the other members of PSCI.

"Fishing is more productive than standing around," Guidonis replies, not at all chastised. If anything, he's slightly irked that he was caught  — his teammates seem all too amused.

"Although it pains me to bring an end to this intriguing discussion," Aruan says dramatically, "Guidonis does have a point. We should at least try being productive rather than miraculously catching something at the last moment."

"Why?" Asterlyn questions innocently though she makes a good point. "That strategy's been working well enough."

Only because at least three of us are spirit-touched, Guidonis thinks to himself. His commander smirks at him and fights the urge to roll his eyes. Snarky, competent, knowing brat. Thank the gods that she just knows him well — that she isn't a mind-reader.

Chriou, on the other paw, doesn't hold back. His facial expression makes it quite known how he feels about Asterlyn's antics, but he doesn't otherwise mention it. "Let's go," the stalker announces, heading in some seemingly random direction.

Without further ado, the others hush and follow.

Well then, what do they encounter?
A) something exciting
B) something useful
C) something strange
D) something [insert your own answer here]

Ooh, I love this prompt! Hm. It would be ideal for them to find something useful... But for the readers that might be a bit boring ;)

I choose C!

Wishing everyone a wonderful day!

Chapter 1 [The Hunt] — Choice 7:

Chriou leads the team as usual. They wade through the murky swamp waters in a loose line, occasionally stepping over vines and fallen branches. The swamp is an unusual biome — one possibly stranger than the rainforest. At least there, the earth isn't perpetually flooded.

Abruptly, Guidonis asks, "Do flowers tend to glow in the waking world?" His fellow hunters (excluding Chriou who's busy stalking) look at him strangely, but the losna-furred canine only lifts his tail unrepentantly.

"No," Asterlyn replies, failing to her confusion. "Flowers don't glow. Neither do eggs, fur, nor feathers, last time I checked." She barks a quiet laugh. "Losing your mind, Little Lord?"

Guidonis' swallows feel the need to remind everyone of their presence. They take off from the chaser's back. One of them loops around the team; the others fly ahead.

"They glow," Guidonis points out. So do their feathers, beaks, and talons.

"That's because you're unnatural," Asterlyn huffs.

A whooping noise startles the two into silence. Chriou looks ahead, concern eminent in his gaze. Aruan narrows his eyes at the beast. "What is that?" Huāzaeleas breathes.

Guidonis, on the other paw, freezes. He knows he's seen that creature before. It's familiar in all the wrong ways...

Well, what is that?
A) charged alligator
B) swamp shark
C) growth pelican
D) charged eagle
E) pherris vagabond
