The thought: It's an unfortunate fact that everything (T3s, muties, etc.) is going to get less valuable over time, because most people in this game (including me!) breed a lot, and most people (including me!) don't have nearly enough den space for all the "good" pups they breed. At the beginning of the game, T2s were super rare and sought-after - I saw a forum thread from last September where someone paid 70 gc for a lavender - and of course now they're common/cheap. T3s are going through the same cycle. I don't think there's much players can do to fix this; it's just sort of the logical conclusion of mass T3 breeding. But I have faith the devs will release new shiny things so we always have new shiny things to reach for. The complaint: I think the overemphasis on G1/G2 wolves is really detrimental to the long-term health of the game. It's just a fact that everyone's lines are going to get longer over time. If that's perceived as losing value, it's very disheartening. As a lore player, I'm very attached to my wolves, and also dedicated to continuing their lines within my pack. Already I have several grandchildren of my og wolves. (And those og wolves weren't NBWs, they were cute pups I got off the TC with varying lineage lengths.) Someday it will be great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. I like that. I'm going to keep it up regardless of what the market says. But it is a little sad to know that it's seen as a loss of value. Now, personally, I don't breed for profit. I breed to get the pack members I want, and any profit I make on the side is just a bonus. But for people who do breed for profit, I can see how they might quit if all their longer-lined wolves are seen as non-valuable. That's what I mean about G1/G2 overemphasis being detrimental to the game. It makes things unfun for a lot of the playerbase, and it's going to get progressively worse over time because, as I mentioned, everyone's lines are getting longer. Having said all that, I think the problem is sometimes overstated. I recently bred this beautiful Gen 8 puppy, and I sold his littermates for 100 sc (for the T1) and 200 sc (for the T2). (Neither of the ones I sold were carriers, they were just pretty and fast.) Which is to say, there are still a lot of buyers out there who aren't picky about gen. |

Unfortunately pet sites are one of those consumer bases where "rare and shiny" is what is wanted and what sells, so if it's not one thing it'll be another. But yeah, the work put into buying T3's and breeding them barely makes up for what you'll sell them for, if you manage to sell them. The game definitely can't sustain itself if gen 2's aren't even wanted. |

i'm also super concerned about upselling right now, as it seems to be a big thing in the market. i want my wolves to go to close to forever homes, and i don't want to see them flipped, which is a large possibility when it comes to selling G2 T3s for cheap |

Of course, I realize that people can name their woofs whatever they want! And some people may not like what woof names I have. But I keep my lineages short so I don't have to get agitated about it. :u edit: to talk about the tradesmarket more specifically, I think NBWs and G2/G3s may always be a little bit more valued because of issues like mine. *shrug* If I wait a bit, though, I can usually sell my stud's pups attached to their mommas at 20sc a pup, regardless of generation or tier. |

I was hoping that pup training would swing the market toward G2+ wolves, but idk if that's happened at all. @Beads That's an interesting take that I haven't heard before! For myself, non-names in lineages (New Puppy yeet, Pewter F 220) mildly annoy me, but not so much that it'd affect a purchase decision. |

I think some of the market's problems could be somewhat solved by the addition of new mechanics, which I know is easier said than done. To encourage longer-lined, higher stat wolves, maybe some sort of battle system with special enemies or other players' wolves? I know in the other thread we were talking about some sort of minor reward system for chasing? I'm not sure if it'll solve the problem if more chased T3's are out there, but it'll at least bring their coveted status down a peg. I also mentioned some sort of special event rewards; a player could pick one wolf, once during the event (a month? can even tie it to Lunar) where they could choose a major reward like a high stat boost, turn the wolf immortal (would still need a slot), have a base color reroll maybe based on the tier the wolf already has, or wipe lineage. Don't know how well that would go over, but it basically would be like picking your own NBW. Again, to ease the NBW craze, and the other options are there for people who don't care for NBW one way or another. Then again, maybe this whole G1 thing will die down when the next fad rolls in? p: |

For scouting, stats are less important, but you do need 101 wisdom for glacier and 101 strength for rainforest. It was pretty frustrating as a new player when I reached the glacier and couldn't scout it because none of my wolves were high enough. |

I figured out the scouting thing, thankfully had a wolf with a line long as heck and he had the stats for Glacier at level 1. See guys, G2+ is good for something!!! |
