The Pantheon and the World's Creation

The elements that make up the world and its inhabitants are embodied in various deities. Combined, they make up the Pantheon. At its core are the 13 major deities, with the minor deities furthering and enhancing them.

The major deities were there at the world's beginning (though perhaps they weren't the very first things? intrigue) and working together, the world and its first inhabitants were formed. Later down the line, minor deities were created. Minor deities were either formed as an extension of a singular major deity, or as the result of a "pairing" between two major deities. Minor deities tend to interact with the rest of the world more directly than the major deities do.

Minor Deities

Tala (Spirit of Guidance) - Born from the Spirits of Darkness and Mind, Tala is a helpful guardian trickster wolf... but a trickster nonetheless. She is very friendly and wise and loves to help wolves form new packs. However, she has a dark, mysterious side. She can make things happen in a flash and can manipulate others around her to do what she wants. Accept her help, but don't trust her too much.

Herbert (Spirit of Herbalism) - Born from the Spirit of Plants, Herbert is a wise bear who is a master of herbalism, and legend holds that he was the creator of herbalism. He can communicate with plants in a way that mortals cannot. He spends his time healing and passing on his art to others.

Lilith (Spirit of Family) - Born from the Spirits of Mind and Body, Lillith is an extraordinarily caring bear who is solely dedicated to adoption. She takes in an incredible amount of pups from all kinds of packs and not only manages to protect and care for them, but is also very good at finding them homes. It is said she can sense familial bonds, including both bonds of blood and bonds of adoption.

Gene (Spirit of Discovery)

-

Alsax (Spirit of Song) - Born from the Spirit of Spirit, as well as to wolf parents, Alsax is a wise wolf who is the essence of song. In addition to aiding the Silver Falcon Pack, he composes and teaches the art of music. He particularly loves to teach others how to express their soul with song.

Astemyth (Spirit of Peace)

Timeline of Events in the Pack's History

Year 1: The Silver Falcon Pack is founded. Neali acts as the pack's leader while Recali serves as her second-in-command. The Silver Falcon watches over the newly formed pack as its guardian.

Year 8: Neali and Recali die of old age. Charri, Neali and Recali's adopted granddaughter, takes over as leader, and her second-in-command is her partner Issix.

Year 14: The Minor Spirit Alsax is born into the Silver Falcon Pack.

Year 15: Charri and Issix die of old age. Boey, a wolfdog, takes over as leader, and his second-in command is the Minor Spirit Alsax. His third-in-command is the scout Silisto. Also that year, the Blight strikes the Silver Falcon Pack, killing nearly half of its members.

Year 16: The Blight comes to an end thanks to the tireless efforts of Boey, Alsax, and Nift, the pack's young herbalist. While unable to save any wolf already afflicted by the Blight, their new medicine acted as a preventative measure, protecting any healthy wolf from falling victim.

Year 19: Boey dies of a combination of effects, including stress and lingering Blight effects. Perali, the adopted great-great-grandson of Neali and Recali, takes over as leader, and his second-in-command is the scout Astemyth.

Year 21: Silisto disappears on a scout. He is presumed dead after a dedicated search effort yields no results. Alsax, who would have died at this age if he were not a Spirit, assumes the role of a guardian of the pack.

Year 22: The Silver Falcon Pack is attacked by other packs who fear Perali's might. They target the pack's weakest first, resulting in a slaughter of pupsitters and pups before stronger pack members arrive to help. The Silver Falcon Pack's hunters, with Perali leading them, successfully drive out the invaders, but not before many lives are lost. This event is later known as the Massacre of the Nest.

Year 26: Perali and Aurade die of old age. Brackel, a Finisher's pup, takes over as leader, and her second-in-command is the scout Kadali.

Year 30: Brackel's renown as a leader and warrior have spread far and wide, causing her name to be known around the land in a way no Silver Falcon Pack wolf's had ever before.

Year 32: Brackel dies of old age. She chooses White Tiger, an orphan pup from a now-destroyed pack, to be the next leader. White Tiger's second-in-command is Brackel's son, Chewink.

Year 33: Kadali dies of old age. Silisto, thought dead 12 years ago, returns to the pack and reveals himself to be a minor Spirit.

General Pack Rules

  • When it comes to pairbonding, there is a soft cutoff of 1 year difference for permissible age gaps. This means that wolves about a year apart or closer can pairbond. Exceptions to this happen, and aren't terribly uncommon. In those cases, the whole pack will weigh in on the relationship, often permitting it regardless.

  • Adoption is allowed and encouraged. The Silver Falcon Pack understands that family is more than just blood. This precedent was set by the pack's founders, whose pups were all adopted.

  • When pup are born, the only wolves permitted to see them are the parents and the herbalist, until the pups wean. The parents can make personal exceptions, such as letting another family member visit. This is a common occurrence when a mother's pups have been fathered by another pack's stud, meaning that the pups' father is not present.

  • Roles are decided fairly early on for each wolf. For pups born within the pack, roles are usually decided by the time they are 2.5 months old. For all other wolves that join the pack (whether that be by adoption, from the wild, or from another pack) roles are decided very shortly after they join.

  • Wolves usually stay in their roles for life or until they reach the retiring age. In rare cases, a wolf may change roles if needed. For example, a hunter sustains a severe injury to one of their legs, and will no longer be able to hunt. The hunter will likely become a pupsitter, and another wolf (often a scout who has a scout-in-training to replace them) will fill their position.

  • Though not exactly a rule, members of the Silver Falcon Pack are encouraged to be respectful to each other and to settle their differences peacefully.

  • In addition to respectfulness within the pack, members are also encouraged to be respectful of outsiders, especially guests who visit the pack. "Good impressions lead to a good reputation". The Silver Falcon Pack is well-known for their hospitality.

Role Rules pt. 1

Leader Rules

  • Leaders are chosen by the previous Leader before they die, with approval from the Silver Falcon.

  • Once a future Leader has been chosen, the current Leader takes them under their wing and personally mentors them to the best of their ability, passing on as much as they can.

  • The role of Leader is NOT an inherited one, however, new leaders can be related to previous leaders.

  • Leaders MUST have a second-in-command. The role of the second in command does not matter. (Second-in-commands so far have been herbalists, scouts, and hunters)

  • Leaders are assisted by a council of elders who, together with the second-in-command, serve as checks to the Leader.

  • Leaders have no retiring age, as they always serve as leader until the moment they die.

Herbalist Rules:

  • The Herbalist paw-selects their replacement, and makes their decision very carefully after assessing the replacement's potential with herbs, medicines, and foraging.

  • Herbalist training is considered very rigorous. If a replacement doesn't have the endurance to continously scrounge for herbs or doesn't have the memory to learn a great deal of medicines, then they aren't fit for being the pack's main healer. Herbalism is a very demanding and important role.

  • Herbalists tend to their own injuries before anyone else's, except for emergencies. As the pack's first Herbalist, Recali, once bluntly said: "A Herbalist can only heal others if they're alive themselves. You may feel the need to heal others first, but that won't matter much if you fall over dead before you can help them."

  • After the Herbalist themselves, wolves are treated in order of illness severity, beginning with lethal diseases and open wounds. Minor illnesses such as diarrhea and constipation are saved for last.

  • Although the retiring age for herbalists is recorded as 7 years, this often gets ignored as many herbalists insist on working right up unil they die

Scout Rules:

  • Scouts rarely pick their own successors, as that decision usually comes down to the Leader. Leaders usually detail what they are looking for in a Scout and work with current Scouts to find a possible replacement.

  • Like Herbalist training, Scout training is very rigorous, likely even more than. Given the nature of the Scout role, the Leader must be selective about who will take up that important role and considers the needs of the pack at the time.

  • Generally, the most important things in a Scout are their endurance and willpower. Endurance for the long journeys they take and the energy needed to scout, and willpower to push through difficulty.

  • Other valued traits are physical strength, mental strength, a thirst for exploration, good negotiating skills, etc.

  • Though not required, Scouts are highly encouraged to form pairbonds/other strong bonds within the pack. This is because they spend so much time away from the pack and it is good to have an anchor to keep them steady.

  • The retiring age for scouts is a flexible one, since many scouts retire before they reach that age. Scouts often retire when they know they have reached their full potential (level 20) and want to pass the role on to the next scout. However, should a scout not reach their full potential before this age, scouts will then retire at 6 years.

Role Rules pt. 2

Hunter Rules:

  • Though the Leader has some input, Hunters choose their own successors. After selecting a replacement, the Hunter will help them in their training and assist as needed.

  • Hunters must get along with the other members of their hunting party.

  • Hunting parties don't necessarily have to get along with other hunting parties. However, respectfulness and healthy competition is encouraged.

  • Members of a hunting party must be fairly close in age, with the oldest and youngest members have 1 year at most in between them (of course, exceptions are made for close numbers)

  • Hunting parties must have different average ages (ex. Party 1's average age is 5 yr, Party 2's is 3yr, Party 3's is 1yr). This is so that when a hunting party retires and a new one is formed, there are two well-trained ones to keep the food supply stable.

  • The retirement age for hunters is 6 years, however, retiring for hunters works a little differently from other roles. This is because a whole hunting party retires at the same time when the oldest one reaches 6 years. In some cases, the youngest member of the party may only be 5 years, but they retire with the rest of them.

  • Because of this, new hunting parties are only introduced when all of the members are ready. There are cases where teams are replaced one wolf at a time, but this is rare and generally avoided when possible. It is best to have a team learn and grow together.

Pupsitter Rules:

  • Pupsitters are a very valuable role (despite what the game offers it with exp). As such, not just any wolf can be one, nor is it easy, and those that become pupsitters must adapt to the role.

  • Pupsitters must be able to cooperate with each other and must have a good temperament towards pups.

  • While mentors and other roles teach pups specific things, pupsitters, in cooperation with the pups' parents, if applicable, teach pups general things.

  • The retirement age for pupsitters is 6.5 years.

Mentor Rules:

  • Mentors are retired wolves, and as such have a wealth of knowledge.

  • Mentors have two primary roles: teaching pups and mentoring the leader.

  • Mentors, especially those retired from hunting or scouting, are very valuable teachers and spend a good chunk of their time helping pups learn.

  • Every retired wolf is a part of the Council of Mentors, a diverse group that assists the leader with decision making and advice.

  • The Council does more than just assist the leader; it actually has power of its own. The Council makes the final decision on a variety of topics, such as pairbond exceptions and wolf chasing.

  • And of course, when not teaching or being part of the Council, mentors live the rest of their lives in peace and enjoyment.

Pack Dynasty

While I keep a record of every wolf of mine off-site, I do still use my Dynasty. However, in order to not eat up a lot of space (and GC) only the most important (for one reason or another) get a spot. The various criteria are listed below:

  • If a wolf is a Leader (Lead wolf or their second-in-command) they are guaranteed a spot.
  • If a wolf is a breeding male, they are guaranteed a spot.
  • If a wolf is a part of Wisli's line and continues the line, they are guaranteed a spot. (Wisli was one of the adopted children of my founders, and because she was my favorite, I have chosen to continue her line as long as possible)
  • If a wolf is a part of Estis's line and continues the line, they are guaranteed a spot. (Estis was my beloved random-bred het-eyed pup, and ever since I got back a chased pup of hers, I decided to continue her line as long as possible)
  • Others are chosen by various reasons. (listed in their bios)

Eye Color Significance

Certain eye colors have been associated with certain traits in the world of wolves. This has led to some wolves being superstitious regarding eyes, however, most wolves do not strictly believe in these associations, as there is no guarantee that a wolf with x eyes will have x trait. However, it can be said that a wolf with x eyes is more likely to have x trait. Below are a list of common eye-trait links.

Green - good-natured, intelligent (usually "hidden" or not apparent at first)

Ice - independent, a "lone wolf"

Storm - fiercely intense, danger-seeking

Hetero Black and White/Hetero White and Black - very wise and intelligent

Hetero Blue and Brown/Hetero Brown and Blue - very fast and nimble
