Puppy Survival

Hello!

 I know this must seem like such a noob question, but is there any way to boost a newborn puppy's survival chance? I remember there being that bird item you could use in lioden to help cubs out, but I haven't seen any items like that for wolvden. Maybe i'm just missing it, I just feel so bad when I lose puppies. I never know how to help them :(

There are no items that will help, you can only boost with the pupsitter's help. However, if the pup is fully fed and played with (or the mom, if the pup isn't weaned yet) they will gain a 7% survival boost at rollover. Training also gives a small boost to survival chances.

Have you assigned the pup a pupsitter? If so, make sure you feed and amuse the mother/pup everyday, at minimum at least have them full fed, so they don't take a penalty! 

It's also good to have a trained pupsitter on hand, and using fodder pups to keep those pupsitters high in prof. That way, whenever you have pups you actually want to keep, you have a pupsitter with high protection ready to go! I occasionally see 100% pupsitters up for cheap in the TC. That being said, I as well as other users I'm sure don't mind lending you a 100% pupsitter if you desperately need one. :D 

Have a pup you really want to keep, but the protection divded takes them a percent down? At only 99% survival rate, they could still die (of course), so it'll be a good idea to give them their own pupsitter!

Penalties/boost happen before a pup's chance of death/injury rolls, so if you have a pup at 100% but they take a penalty that makes them less than 100 even with a pupsitter, they still have a chance of dying. So be mindful of that!

Train puppies! Completed training gives a tiny boost (2-3%) in survival chance, so try to train every day too!
