Continue gaining xp after level 20, get to choose a stat point on "level up"

This mostly came to mind for me for leads, where defeating enemies at lvl 20 and getting only XP can feel very pointless, but it could also extend to other wolves.

Basically, after level 20, filling the XP bar allows you to choose a stat point for the wolf. The bar could change colour once you reach level 20 to make it clearer that it's no longer going to level the wolf up in the normal way. After a stat point is chosen, the bar is reset and you can do it again. The exact amount of XP required to choose a stat point would need to be decided by the devs to work with their preferred game balance around stat gain, so I have no specific suggestions there.

The end! That's the whole suggestion. This is mostly to make fighting feel more purposeful on a level 20 lead, even when you don't get any trophies or regular stat +1s after a fight.

I would certainly hope the devs might put something like this in to help get stats even after level 20, no matter if its a lead wolf or not. Though I'm not sure it would be worth it if it was only 1 stat at a time. I support the idea of being able to gain stats with exp after level 20 though. At least then battling or using a wolf at level 20 would feel more worth while. That or them raising the level cap.

I thought 1 point at a time (with the xp being scaled appropriately) bc it wouldn't upset the current stat growth curve to an extreme degree. I'd be happy with more if staff consider it balanced :V

I don’t know. I felt that this was kinda balanced out with level 20 leads having the biggest bonuses. They have the highest chances of trophy drops, including stat gains, among other bonuses. (Higher trophy drop rate, better chances at finding rarer NBWs and supposedly chased wolves too)

Having to fill up an entire exp bar (which takes a VERY long time for level 20) for just one stat doesnt seem worth it much. and would quickly be forgotten as I can win about 2 stats a day from battling with my level 19 lead. (One day I got upwards of 5 stats gained from battles) this extends to other wolves at level 20 too who win extra stats from scouting and hunting.

and alternatively if you raised the amount of stats gained from this type of level up to a more reasonable amount, we might as well just forget about the level 20 cap as even if your wolf isn’t ‘leveling up’ it’s gaining the stats from it and there would soon be tons of big stat monsters in the game which is why I think the cap was added in the first place as this was a big thing on lioden.

Wait, you can't gain the +1 stats from battling anymore after level 20??

You definitely can. The OP is suggesting that in addition you should be able to fill up the exp bar as usual in a manner similar to leveling, but instead of leveling up at the end you get a single point in one stat of your choosing.

I think I vote no support on this. It's just such a tiny amount to gain that I actually feel it wouldn't be worth the update to implement it.

Tbh you could replace it with a different reward (ie not stats) and it'd solve the problem just as well. I'm grinding ~4-8 stats a day on my lead at lvl 20 rn, the problem is that it feels bad from a gameplay perspective to get literally nothing or even a net loss (bc healing after) from winning a battle (since XP goes nowhere at cap.) You could add guaranteed item drops but that seems like a bad idea. Btw I'm certain there's an xp-stats ratio that's in between the "not worth it" and "why have a level cap at all" thresholds :p
