Hiya, so it's been a week since I joined. So sorry in advance for the dumb question! Slowly getting used to the mechanics and such. :) I assume it meant No In-Breeding or something? |

Asking questions is a great way to learn, no need to apologize! New terminology and mechanics and such can be confusing~ Correct! NIB stands for Non-Inbred/Not-Inbred/that genre of talk. There's no official definition of it so sometimes people will say it if it's only the first page that's NIB, sometimes it's only if the full line is (which is where you have to be careful when looking at NIB trades and studs and such). I have seen more people specify first page NIB versus entirely NIB but sometimes you just have to check. I believe that's correct! G1 is your NBW (New Befriended Wolf), custom, or starter wolves, wolves with "Unknown" for their entire family tree. Generation is always referred to by the longest line, so stretching back to Faelor's parents would make the pup G7 (if I counted right XD).

@ChildOfTheDoes I see, thanks for the in-depth explanation! So do people tend to prefer to breed with an "NBW" wolves due to children can still inherit the grandparent's traits? If so, how far of a Generations will it keep effecting pup's traits? |

Pups won’t inherit any traits from grandparents, they only get traits from their parents. Some people like breeding to NBWs or other wolves with a short heritage because it makes it easier to keep track of their heritage and ensure that there’s no inbreeding. However, inbreeding doesn’t have any actual effects, so there’s no real reason (at least within the game mechanics) to have NIB wolves. It’s just a matter of personal preference, or it can be a fun challenge. One thing to note is that NIB wolves may sell for slightly more in the trading center. |

This was much debated in the community/forums during the early days of Wolvden. Many players felt that the terms clean/dirty implies that there's a correct way (breeding clean wolves) and a wrong way (breeding dirty wolves) to play the game, and it was suggested to use the term non-inbred instead. |
