Nesting bug advice?

Nesting bug advice?
Posted 2021-05-26 09:54:31

I had two un-nested wolves give birth perfectly fine a couple days back, no lost puppies, no issues, so I think it was a bug, but I really have no proof or screenshots to make a bug report. Any advice for what to do?

I don't think it's a bug.

The warning message on un-nested females says that they "may" lose puppies if not nested. If you don't nest them you have a chance of losing pups but you might also be lucky (as it happened to you) and have a safe birth.

I always nest my girls so I don't know how often you are supposed to lose pups or not if you don't nest them but I'm quite sure the chance of pups dying is not 100%.

Interesting, I've seen other people say that you always lose at least one puppy. Odd for it to happen to both of them, if it is a low chance of safe birth

If you are still in doubt, you could still report it using your User Log entries as a proof.

If you search for your females name and take a screenshot of it, devs should be able to see that you don't have nested them (nesting is always entered in the User Log) and that their puppies were born all alive.

If it's really a bug, that should be enough for them to check.

Hey! This isn't a bug at all and intentional game design. Unnested female's pups roll for a possibility of being stillborn or alive individually (though I'm not sure how likely it is for one to die, I just know there's a pretty likely chance at least one will), and it is completely possible no pups would die at all, if luck is in your favor, as it is also possible for all to die. Most people only lose one to few pups due to an unnested female.

In your puppy notification, it should have noted that your female was unnested but went ahead and gave birth. If that's true, then it's 100% not a bug.

The notifications did not mentions they were un-nested, which is when I started to suspect a bug

Hmmm.. Interesting. I forget whether full unnested successful births mention it or not, since I usually skim those notifs. I suppose it'd be worth reporting, just in case, but I really doubt it's a bug.
