Confused about background applicators

Its ya boy, back again with another "not sure if this is a bug or not" question!

My background applicators seem to have disappeared? They arent in my hoard or my buried, and they dont show up on the equipper page either. I had two of the same background (so ten uses total) and I've only used it twice (on my current lead and breeding male) so I should have both items still with either 4 uses each or 5 and 3 uses. They do show up on the wolf's decoration tabs saying its equipped and has four uses left, but bones if I know where the applicators ended up, lmao.

I've got my bugbox report half typed but I figured I'd double check I'm not missing something somewhere first.

edit: Backgrounds do show up in the equipper but only for the wolves that have it already it looks like, so I'm gonna assume this is a bug and go ahead and report it.

5 uses mean it can be used 5 times, but not simultaneously. Putting it on a wolf takes it out of your hoard and uses up a use. When that wolf dies, or you remove the background, it will be returned to your hoard with one less use.

Wait, seriously? So I have to buy a new applicator for every single wolf I want to apply it to?

unfortunately, yes. 5 uses means it can be used five individual times, not five times simultaneously :[
