Monthly Short Story Contest

Hello! This is the master post for the official Wolvden monthly short story writing contest :D 

And I know what you're thinking, "Official? You're a normal player, nothing you can do is 'official'?" And while yes, that is true, I do plan on keeping this going for quite a while and would very much enjoy your patience and participation. 

Considering 2020 is (finally) coming to a close, I'll only drop contests for November and December, and in that time I would love if you guys dropped some prompt ideas for 2021 down below. 

I will post the entries on a different thread and would highly appreciate it if y'all didn't submit your entries to this thread (or any other for that matter).Your entries must be submitted via DM to me and me only otherwise it will not qualify.

The prompts for November and December are:

• November: "Just listen..."
• December: A missed call

Prizes for the winners and cost for entries will change as time goes on and how many stories are submitted, but for now I will post prize numbers (and hope we get enough entries to cover them) Let me know if you guys want the prizes higher (just know it will also make the price to enter higher as well). You may decide if you want your prize in SC or GC. 

• 1st place: 200SC or 4GC
• 2nd place: 150SC or 3GC
• 3rd place: 100SC or 2GC

Vital Info:

1. All entries must be at least 1,000 words and up to 7,500 words.

2. You may only submit one story per prompt.

3. It will cost 1GC or 50SC to enter a piece. This is so that we may give prizes to the winners of the contest. 

4. All entries will be posted anonymously to avoid player bias. When voting opens there will be a link to submit your vote. Your vote will be kept anonymous. 

5. Submission deadline is 11:59 pm Central Daylight Time on the last day of the month before. So if you were to submit a piece for the December contest, you would need to submit it on November 30th at 11:59 pm. 

6. Voting ends at 11:59 pm Central Daylight Time on the last day of the month of the prompt. So to vote for December you would need to vote by December 31st at 11:59 pm.

Rules:

1. All entries must adhere to site rules.

2. Entries that violate the rules of the site or contest will not be posted and I will request for you to fix said issues. Some rules may be bent but do not count on it.

3. Do not share which story is yours. If I find out that you are lobbying for votes I will remove your story from the contest and you will not be allowed to enter again. 

4. Please do not send your entry multiple times. I will finish reading it eventually so do not panic if I don't respond to you right away. 

5. You are allowed and encouraged to start early but please do not send me your contest entries any sooner than a month in advance. 

6. Do not submit multiple entries. If I find out that you are submitting entries through friends I will ban both you and your friend from entering again and both submissions will be removed. 

7. Please do not vote for your own story.

How to Submit a Story to Me

I'll keep this brief because it's not too awful complicated. I need these things, one on top of the other. I need the Title, the Word Count, the Prompt, and the Genre. After that I don't care how you format your story. All I need is those four things and your story. And again, please only send it to me. If you post it to any thread then your story will be ineligible for that months contest. 

Hm, I'm very interested in this, is this open? Been awhile since I did a short story prompt ^^'

Yes! It is indeed open. All entries need to be submitted by November 30th to be put up for voting :D

Oop, looking back at the rules (that I made XD) you need to turn in the November prompt by October 31st. My bad. I'm a bit scatterbrained rn lol

I'd like to ask, I'm a bit unclear on how to submit the story, do I put the title, genre, et in the short story doc, or does the doc only contain the short story and I have to list the title stuff in the dm I send you?

I need the title, word count, prompt, and genre with your short story :D

QUESTION!

Do I have to keep it wolf/Wolvden related, or can I use other fandom's (L4D, for example, while staying in the guidelines, obviously)?
