Pack Number Question!

So!  Hi, yay, new game.

Question though!  In my den, it says I have "Pack Adults: 3/5"  in the info area but I have... four adult wolves, not including my leader?  I can count them myself?  Is it because one of them is featured?  Or is it because the featured wolf is the second wolf I created?  Do they not count..??  but earlier, when I had a full den (5/5), I was told that I could not befriend another wolf.  Chased one, and now it's down to three instead of four.

Just... curious hahaha
