Selamiut
Chibi Nanook by #3420

I'm going to be using this thread to track the history of my pack if anyone is interested. Please do not post as this thread will be a constant work in progress. If you want to discuss my lore with me, you can PM me or join ☼ Lore Clan ☼.

Deep in the woods there is a wolf pack named Selamiut. The pack lives right next to a beautiful crystal-clear river. Puppies play in the water, with their mothers and pupsitters keeping a careful eye on them from the shore. A few feet away was the adolescents, gossiping about the latest drama in the pack. The hunters were stationed on the edge of the forest, dragging food to their other pack mates.

Alpha Rules
The main Alpha line of Selamiut is all descended from the first two Alphas, Nanook and Nayeli. To be considered an Alpha, a wolf must be descended from one of their litters. The only other way to become an Alpha is to be the mate of the current Alpha. The head Alphas can have pups from outside their mate, but those puppies won't be considered Alphas. Inbreeding in the Alpha line is forbidden, and any potential Alpha that has inbreeding in their lineage is imminently disqualified from being an Alpha. The closer in lineage an Alpha is to the current head Alphas, the more influence they have.

Main Alphas

Nanook is the founder and current male Alpha of Selamiut. He grew up in a pack that lived in the mountains. Nanook was the youngest pup of the Alpha of the pack. His father didn't have much time for him, instead focusing on Nanook's three older brothers. Nanook would often be teased by the other pups in the pack, and he would go to his mother, Selamiut, for comfort. When Nanook turned a year old, he decided to leave and start his own pack. Selamiut was sad to see him leave, but Nanook promised that he would honor her by naming his new pack after her.

Nayeli is the female Alpha of Selamiut. She grew up in a pack that lived in a desert south of the mountain where Nanook grew up. She was the oldest puppy of the Alpha, but because of her pack being a patriarchy, he younger brother became the next Alpha. Even though she wasn't able to become head Alpha, she still was well respected in her pack. She had a way with getting her packmates to follow her command, and she knew that her skills would go to waste because she could never be the Alpha. When she turned one, she left her pack to start a pack of her own where she could be an Alpha.

Trapper's Grove
Trapper's Grove is where the hunters and scouts of Selamiut live. Located next to the edge of the forest, pack members gather around every time the hunting party comes back to eat. Pupsitters will tear off chunks of meat and bring them to the nursing mothers and pups in White Water Nursery. The hunters are almost always out on a hunt, and only come back when they are too tired to catch anymore prey. The scouts also reside here, resting in between their long journeys.

Hunters

Igasho is one of the chasers in Selamiut's first hunting party. Even though hunting is considered a team effort, Igasho loathes his teammates, instead preferring to go off on his own, much to the dismay of the other wolves. Even though he is a pain to hunt with, he stays in the hunting party due to his unrivaled speed when chasing down prey. Igasho was one of the first wolves to join Selamiut, and he is Nanook's second in command

Aapeksha is from Nanook and Nayeli's first litter. As she is one of the first Alpha pups, she feels like she has a lot to live up to. She's not sure if she wants to be the next head Alpha, but currently she is training as a hunter in the meantime. The other pack members believe that she wouldn't be a good Alpha, as she is very headstrong and doesn't like listening to others. Even though, she still has a lot to learn and she is currently raising her first litter.

Ehawee is one of the most popular non-Alphas in Selamiut. Her dry sense of humor keeps her hunting party's spirts up whenever they come back empty-pawed from a hunt. She is a chaser, and she is really good at avoiding obstacles in her path when she's chasing down prey.

Pauwau is one of the chasers in Selamiut's first hunting party. At first glance she looks exactly like Ehawee, another chaser in her hunting party. The party uses this to their advantage, having the two weave around the prey and make them think that the two of them are one super amazing hunter. Her personality can get a bit grating at times, and most wolves can't stand her for long, but she is nice to be around in small doses.

Guyapi is the stalker in Selamiut's first hunting party. He's naturally a very sneaky wolf, knowing exactly where to hide so that he can't be smelled. Sometimes when the hunting party is about to go on a hunt, the other party members won't be able to find out where Guyapi is resting, causing them to go on a very convoluted hunt just to find him

Migisi is the first puppy of Nuttah, the pack herbalist. Most thought she would follow in her mother's pawsteps and become an herbalist, but Migisi decided to become a hunter instead. She is the finisher in Selamiut's second hunting party. She is very trusting, often leading her into dangerous situations with wolves from outside the pack.

Kai is a chaser in Selamiut's second hunting party. She was bought from another pack who didn't have room for her, but her strange markings made her valuable. As soon as she was weaned off her mother, she was sent to Selamiut. Nanook and Nayeli welcomed her with open arms, and she became a pseudo big sister to Nayeli's second litter, who weren't weaned at the time. She's very charismatic, and always knows exactly what to say to get a wolf on her side

Chilam was another puppy that was bought from another pack. Nanook took interest in her because of her striking blue eyes that looked like his mother's. Chilam is rather friendly, and is sometimes seen as the baby of the pack, even though she is an adult. She is Nanook's favorite pack mate, just behind Nayeli

Koko is the youngest member of Selamiut's second hunting party. As the least experienced, she still doesn't understand how to work in a team. Instead of following what the other chasers are doing, she goes off on her own, often causing the party to lose the hunt. Because of this most of the pack doesn't like her, but her teammates see past her inexperience and try and teach her how to hunt in a team.

Elsu is the son of Nanook and Nayeli. He is generally disliked in the pack due to his bossy nature, not taking other's ideas. Because of this, he is unlikely to be the next head Alpha, but in his head he is perfect for the job. Nanook has been trying to give him pointers on how to be a better leader, but Nanook's quiet nature is overwhelmed by Elsu's bossy one, and nothing ever gets done. Nayeli has taken Nanook's place recently, and seems to be having more luck.

Japa is the son of Aapeksha and an outside wolf. The female pack members are all head over heels in love with him, some saying he should become the next head Alpha even though he isn't Nanook's and Nayeli's son. However, Japa is rather dense and he often doesn't understand why he gets so much attention.

Aiyana is one of the cocoa twins. Since her and her brother look so similar, the pair is known as the cocoa twins. She is the youngest stalker in the pack. She is a very talented stalker, as she is very careful to make sure the prey doesn't hear her. She is rather popular, but sometimes she overthinks things and make others mad.

Matto is the son of Aapeksha and a wolf from outside the pack. He is a chaser, and he is very proud of being the best chaser in his hunting party. He constantly brags about it, and because of this he isn't very popular. He does have some fans, mostly younger adolescents. These fangirls follow him around and fawn over him, and Matto relishes in the attention.

Scouts
Ukaleq was the first scout in Selamiut

White Water Nursery
White Water Nursery is where pregnant wolves and young pups live. It's by the base of the river that flows through the territory. It's right next to a short waterfall, which relaxing noise helps calm new mothers and puppies. The pupsitters make sure each puppy is safe, a hard job as the natural curiosity of puppies gets them into trouble a lot of the time. Pups stay in the Nursery until they are one year old and considered an adult. During the day, the puppies love to play in the shallow areas of the river, with their mothers and pupsitters keeping a close eye on them to make sure they're safe.HTML by Lila #225. Bear Trap Clinic
Bear Trap Clinic is where sick wolves go to get healed. The Clinic got its name from the friendly bear that helps the pack herbalist diagnose and cure illnesses. The current herbalist is the only permanent resident of the Clinic. Thankfully, not many wolves get sick, so they spends most of their time foraging for herbs. If a wolf gets sick while the herbalist is gone, there is a stockpile of cures that are ready to use. However, if the cure they need isn't available, then wolves with less serious illnesses will wait for them to get back, but if the illness is more serious, Nanook will head out to other packs to try and buy a cure from them.HTML by Lila #225. Short Stories
Here's a list of all the short stories I've written for my pack, with links to each post. These stories will be about important events in my lore (like when a new head Alpha ascends) or just stupid little stories that show the individual relationships in my pack. You don't have to read all of these to understand my lore, but they provide a more detailed look into what packlife is like in Selamiut.

Planned Stories
After leaving his old pack, Nanook meets a strange wolf named Tala, who guides him through starting his own pack. Along the way, Nanook meets a female wolf named Nayeli, who also left her old pack to form her own.

Selamiut experiences their first loss when the pack herbalist, Nuttah, dies of old age. Members of the pack the were close to her deal with the grief, and Ashkii takes over as the new pack herbalist.
