Some versions of the blue/dilution gene (d) can cause hair loss and skin problems in dogs (color dilution alopecia). My brother spent a lot of money on a "silver" Labrador Retriever who had been partly bald with itchy skin since puppyhood. They can be made more comfortable but there is no cure.

pitbulls are ranked as 4th best of 122 breeds tested, meaning they are one of the most affectionate and least aggressive dogs. Michael Vick owned 51 Pit Bulls at the time of his arrest for dog fighting. Thirty of those dogs have been re-trained and are in loving homes, while four more have gone on to become therapy dogs.

Human bodies are accelerometers, that is, they can detect changes in speed. However, they can't tell the difference between constant speeds so if you had no outside visual cues and were on a perfectly smooth road (so no bumps) you would be unable to tell the difference between 25 mph and 75 mph.

Spring is tornado season here in Oklahoma, but they can happen any time of year. One passed near my house a few years ago in September.

Since the 1950s, Oklahoma has been hit by ~4500 tornados. However, the death and injury rate associated with tornados is incredibly low. This is because OK has some of the best meteorologists and weather forecast systems in the nation. The National Weather Center (which houses federal, state, and academic organizations) is located on the campus of the University of Oklahoma.

Oklahoma makes extensive use of tornado sirens, giving it a sort of "WWII air raid" theme song. They are tested on Wednesdays at noon. You will probably hear them go off at least 2-3 times a year even if a tornado never comes close enough for you to see it.
