My herbalist lost her 'research'!

Hi!  I had my herbalist research all medicine except one.  I'd just finished Cure All and only had Rich Healing Salve left to discover.  She then went into heat and I bred her so she was no longer available for foraging or research at which time I took her off and placed another wolf as Herbalist.  Once she had her pups I switched it back to her being Herbalist but all of a sudden it now says she's only discovered 12/19 and is making her redo the other 7.  Is this how it's supposed to be?  If that's the case I'm just not going to breed my herbalist ever but figured I'd see if there's something I can do first.

I’m pretty sure when you switch out a herbalist for a new one, they do lose research. Frankly, I breed my herbalist and just wait till the last day to nest her so she’s still available to craft medicines. I believe that switching them in and out is supposed to be a more permanent decision, hence the game mechanic of them loosing research? No idea if there’s a way you could get around it.

This doesn't help you now, but you don't need to take her off the Herbalist role once she's been bred. This is because she doesn't need to be nested until she's about to give birth -- you can even nest them right before that last rollover, so she's only nested for a few minutes.

Ahh, I hadn't thought of the face she's only unavailable while nested.  That does make it much easier to just keep her in her role.  Thanks guys!

I would bug report it. Herbalists are meant to lose 3 recipes, not 6-7 (as told to me by an admin! My healer lost her proficiency and I was asking about recipes too, and that's what I was told).

I think you lost so many recipes because you technically removed two herbalists (pregnant wolf, then you removed her temp replacement).

Ohhhhh that makes sense.
