Birds are an awesome idea too!

I have reptiles and am getting ready to set up my first bioactive setup so I love isopods as an idea! We have different native ones all over the states and various isopods in other countries for events.

I also like the idea of reptiles or amphibians (again, I have reptiles XD). Their are so many different species and color morphs and it wouldn't be too far off to see them fight. Though not really many live in cold biomes.

Birds could also be nice - again a lot of them exist and they can be very colorful. Wolves are also thought to have a relationship with them through ravens

While I love the idea some commenters have said with the birds, I'm not sure birds as fighting pets would be a good idea. This game has feral pigs, cattle, and horses so it's not outside the realm of possibility for feral chickens to exist. Male chicks become cocks and cock fighting is an extremely cruel and illegal sport that is an ongoing problem. Given the recent controversy with the idea of battling and killing humans, some players might be sensitive to the idea of birds fighting each other as well.

The OP's initial idea might not trigger as many players due to less emotional investment in crabs. As for there being a lacking of species to fill out the North American roster, why not do crustaceans in general?

Of course I'm more on team isopod than team crustacean if only for the fact they're everywhere on land and sea making the possibilities endless, even if the art might not be as varied or unquie as crustacean art.

No matter what the pets on Lioden were fun and I'm on board with it possibly being adapted for Wolvden!

Actually did you know Ravens have been known to play with wolf pups and create bonds that last a lifetime in the wild? We could use Ravens as a base and just add different feather designs onto that such as strikes, parrots, etc. Ravens are highly intelligent creatures they also can fight I think it would be epic to implement such a thing. It wouldn't make sense for a wolf to have a chicken as a pet but a Raven both game logic as well as out in the real world would make a ton of sense. This wouldn't be people fighting chickens to the death but think more on the lines of Pokémon where you test strength fighting a bird against a bird goal is to K.O. not kill the opponent not only that but this is wolf driven not human driven its no different from a wolf attacking another wolf in the game if you think about it.

I did indeed know that about ravens and wolves and their lifelong bonds, my point was simply that many players here are sensitive to violence outside of survival. Technically speaking it's still animal abuse to make animals fight for fun. Yes it's a game, yes they are pixels but that doesn't prevent people from being sensitive to it not stop people nor stop them from fearng how it may alter real life perceptions of wolves. I am not one of those people, I simply wanted to bring up a fact I have noticed with the player base.

It would be very cool to have the kinship between wolves and corvids explored with more depth than simply a random encounter that may or may not give you loot. I'm just not sure how popular bird fighting would be amongst community members.
