Stat breeding

Stat breeding

what level would pups tend to be higher then parents? I know level 20 would, but could I say only go to level 18 or 16? I’ve been waiting until I get to lvl 10 for each wolf before I breed but then just realized that when those pups get to level 10 they would actually be lower then the parents unless you waited until a higher level. I wasn’t sure the formula and getting every wolf to level 20 would be unattainable so I was trying to decide if I should just focus on a few wolves getting to level 20 or if I could shoot for like level 16 or something like that and the pups stats would generally be better then the parents. (I know it’s still a range and won’t be exact) . Thanks!

The stats of the pups aren't calculated based on the level of the parents but on the total stats of both.
You can read more about that here: wolvden.com

I get that, I guess that’s what I meant by “parents.” You get the 30% of their stats and get a pup. That pup had 30% of what they did combined. But at what level will that pups stats surpass one of the parents stat number?

Like say I have two 500 stat parents. They have a pup and it gets approximately 300 stats. What level would it get to like 501? Cause level 20 would be 780 stats and level 10 is approximately 408.

Just do the maths.

Each Level-Up you get the following stats: Level x 2

In your example the pup would reach 500+stats with Lvl 14.

Okay thanks! I couldn’t find the table and I just had those two memorized

Firstly, I would refer you to this thread for the actual birth stat formula, which is grand total birth stat = parents' grand total stat x 20% + (range of 105 - 155).

Secondly, I would refer you to this post on stats gained upon level up. Now the answer to your question is very subjective depending on the actual stat of the parent. In the example of Sunfall that I gave in another thread, even in the best case scenario, the puppy would never reach Sunfall's stat at even level 20.

Here is the actual example of Sunfall. At retirement he reached 1425. If you breed Sunfall x Sunfall, in the best case scenario, his offspring will be born with stats at = (1425 + 1425) x 20% + 155 = 725 stats. By leveling up, he will gain 418 stats, bring his stats at level 20 to 1143, which is still significantly lower than Sunfall.

If we discount all +1's gained and start with a standard 200 stats G1 wolf, then by level 20 he or she would reach 200 + 418 = 618 stats. Two 618 stats offspring, in the best case scenario, would reach = (618 + 618) x 20% + 155 = 403 stats rounding up. This puppy would then surpass 618 stats at level 14.

However, taking an actual example, one of my G1 wolf who started at 200 stats and continued to hunt her entire life reached 869 stats. Her best offspring, in the best case scenario, would reach = (869 + 869) x 20% + 155 = 503 stats rounding up. This puppy would not be able to surpass 869 stats until level 19.

Given the nature of the birth equation being linear, the higher the parents' total stats the longer it will take for the offspring to reach and surpass the parents' stats. In fact, if both parents have equal stats, at 960 stats per parent and above, puppies will not be able to reach parents' stat without +1's. (960 + 960) x 20% + 155 = 540 stats rounding up; 540 + 418 = 958 stats at level 20 without +1's.

Not reaching level 20, or even just reaching level 20, is only a strategy for stat breeding in first generation (possibly second generation if you are stretching it). There is a lot of value (and a lot of grinding) in the +1's from hunting, scouting, and battling if your goal is stat breeding.
